A friend bought me this game as a gift to run coop and I honestly wish he was able to get his money back. I don't even know where to begin with this.

One of the things I find most annoying about this game is the fact armor is useless. People say armor reduces damage, but in this game damage is never what kills you. This game has honestly probably the most annoying medical system of any "survival" game i have Ever interacted with and that is a Very long list. You make armor, you put it all on and you think "surely i'm more resistant now" however every source of damage still inflicts injuries through your armor which exhaust medical resources to treat like bandages, which don't seem to come frequently until you've got to the point of growing them and at that point you're basically done progressing and no longer need them often enough to justify growing them other than wanting to make a stockpile.

Three. Hunger bars. One thirst bar, and One exhaustion bar which drains comically fast. The three hunger bars make this game an absolute chore to play even if you're near all 3 sources of food because they exhaust so quickly you're unable to actually sit there and enjoy the game, you're there bouncing between trying to renew one of these 3 (4 if you include water, but that's easy to cheese) bars. And this constant bar management is Before we talk about having to manage the Exhaustion bar, which is just a chore of my character needing to sleep 18 hours in a day so he can have his 6 hours of activity, which 5 of which will be spent trying to scavenge for 3 different types of food which drain concurrently as you try to fill one. The exhaustion bar lowers WAY too quickly, and with it your Maximum stamina lowers which means you take longer to cut down trees and mine, because you have to wait for stamina to regen, are worse at fighting because you go out of stamina and cant swing as much etc

If you make a bow or get even Passably decent with the spear, the game is basically entirely built around juggling your Five sustain bars as there's actually Zero challenge so far as the combat goes. The bow 1 shot headshots every entity in the game except for one, and even with a spear most encounters will end with you just not getting hit after you've fought once or twice and learned how the AI behaves, especially if you use the bow. One of the bigger threats in the game is jaguars lunging at you (which seemingly make zero noise most of the time, and i've had one lunge Through a rock and hit me atleast once) and if you react fast enough with the bow you're able to just 1 shot headshot them mid lunge in the air, and they're no longer a major threat.

All in all, if you want a fun game with none of this bar juggling nonsense go play the forest 1 or 2, they're much more enjoyable experiences than this good as a concept game. I honestly really wanted to like it, but I just can't bring myself to. Every time I play it's just a slog of the same incredibly repetitive gameplay loop. After around ~8 hours you will have seen everything the games gameplay loop has to offer and it becomes Incredibly repetitive. You do the same thing over and over again whilst progressing the story if you choose to.

"Oh, I need nuts, guess I'll go get nuts!" and then 30 seconds later cycle in one of the 2 other food types, or a need to sleep because you've been out of bed for longer than 30 minutes and swung your ax three times.

The skill system in this game is Absolutely Catastrophic. One of their attempted balancing mechanics is having a skill system of which goes to 100, and the more you do something, the more proficient you get at it. Typically games execute this well, but green hell? Absolutely the most hellishly garbage implementation of this system I have seen in a game.
Making armor or Any gear for that matter is completely pointless if you play coop, as if you both craft your own gear you'll get nowhere quickly and make gear at 35-45% durability for half the time you play the game, when tribals drop weapons etc at 75+% durability. Armor is already in a really bad spot and borderline worthless with how it's designed, but the fact unless you sit there and powerlevel your crafting skill it's completely worthless is just unacceptable.

Devs still havent added trading, basically all cosmetics behind paid currency, 1 time use dyes. Imagine warframe with None of the fun endgame (even thats debatable) and zero trading. Just a lame experience

Devs falsely ban players who've done nothing wrong but get mass reported in PVP, Dupers are allowed to dupe and destroy the games economy with no consequences, amazon maintains being busy releasing new DLCs and (i believe as of writing this) releasing a new DLC and revoking access to the game completely for anyone who purchased it and does not own an expansion pack, requiring you to re-purchase the game.

Another day, Another piece of Amazon Games slop that doesn't belong on Steam because it's cheater-filled abandonware just like lost ark is.

Games really good at its pricepoint of 0$, for 8$ it's not a bad competitor to lethal company, and it maintains the weirdly janky but fun movement of TABS/TABG if you were fond of that

Early Access Review
EDIT: As of 2 or 3 days ago of this review, devs pushed an update with one key note in the logs as following:
"Progression adjusted. XP required per rank reduced by half. This should result in a better leveling experience. This adjustment, along with most things during Early Access are subject to change." "Subject to change" is alarming, but this is a step in the right direction, alongside the support update coming.

I want to reccomend this game, I honestly do. But the grind is just absolutely Staggering, to quote another review I saw loosely, this game has an insane grind notable to even War Thunder players. I started this game as anyone would, and the first 4 or 5 hours during the honeymoon phase are honestly really fun, the game plays decent, its not a bad experience. Then you get to actually looking into the unlock system, and the camos, and the prestiege system, and then you start noticing issues with the settings. To start off, the issues with the Unlock system are that it's just incredibly basic, a terribly long grind and that's not an enjoyable grind at all either, by the way. In my 9 hours of playing, i'd gotten to level twenty eight? 27? thereabouts, and the levels cap off at 200. The issues with leveling however, are the fact that this game boasts having what, 39 guns? except seemingly 29 of those are so late into the game you wont be getting to use them until you've put 100 200 hours in. There seems to be a new gun unlock about every ~8 levels, but that's across classes and categories when the majority of categories don't have sharing between classes. An example being the gap between the LMGs or their lighter variants, or even the assault rifles, with the first LMG being unlocked at level Twenty, and the second LMG being unlocked at level One Hundred. Long time to be using one gun of a type, ay? Then theres the camos which are the next variant of progression, skimming over weapon modifications because it's the typical "get kills with weapon to unlock" and thats reasonably fast by what i've noticed, which isn't grindy at all and feels right. few games to max a weapon should be about right, and thats what it seems to be.

As for the camos, they're all Incredibly basic, some of the higher level ones simply being flat colors or having so little variety beyond generic basic camo pattern #10023 that game devs churn out of their generators, theres maybe 1 or 2 camos i'd consider running out of the probably 100 available between prestiege 0-3. Another main thing with the camo system is the fact that grinding camos has always had a little bit of a "show off" aspect to it, when as far as i know there's exactly Zero spectate moments in this game that would allow for that. (Oh, and the main way to unlock camos is again weapon kills, and i believe it caps off at like 2500 kills or 3k kills per gun, at prestiege 3, no challenges i noticed, Good or bad? up to you to decide.)

As for the last point i mentioned, the Prestiege system. Obviously i'm not high enough level to have seen exactly what it is at this point, but i'd also hope Noone is seeing as the grind required is obscene and the games not been out long enough to get a good read on the situation so far as thats concerned, however it seems like if the game follows typical prestiege mechanics, you'd be wiping progress to unlock more of the arguably ugly camos offered in the game, and that's it, which makes me wonder was it included for Any reason except to be a copout to say "We have endgame progression"

A personal issue i had with the settings was that the game felt incredibly color bled compared to the playtests to the point of being almost black and white, but fiddling with drivers seemed to have resolved that, the main complaint i've seen about settings otherwise was that there was a lack of an option to disable headbob, but i've played a fair bit and maybe it's just become unnoticeable to me, but i haven't seen a setting to disable it either.

All in all, the game's honestly fun. I really want to reccomend it, but as soon as the honeymoon phase ends and people see just how bad the grind is, the games gonna end up dropping players to the point it ends up having 5k be a peak, or the devs are going to adjust this system and fix it. I paid 15$ to continue the playtest, and i wouldn't reccomend you do the same. If you played the playtest, you played the superior version of this game and you should let that memory stay the superior variant.

(Edited to add, forgot to mention the map design is Atrocious, with most maps being occupied by a flurry of buildings with destructible walls and features, but not the buildings framing, and most of these buildings (read: basically all of them) have upper levels accessible by 1 or 2 tiny staircases which always end up being complete disasters to push, and just an almost unenjoyable time if you cant make ground. And this game has character customization, but so far legitimately 90-95% of it is locked behind your Patreon sub status, or if you have the bundle, I understand they need to make money after launch to keep developing but it's not setting a good precedent with the quality of released camos thus far for future monetization.)

Game is genuinely fun, but the devs are incredibly committed to murdering it and draining your wallet in the process, grind takes Literal years to get to modern vehicles, or you just swipe and pay 70$ :)+ recent updates have nerfed the economy, making the grind even longer

I've played this game a little bit, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece

My only issue with this game is how not worth it and poorly designed master mode is, and the fix for that is simply not to play it, this game could not be better and if you dont buy it we need to have a heart to heart

The game was fun, until the WEAPON REBALANCE and the skins you can unbox that can drop firearms with skins and STAT BOOSTS, the rebalance made pistols do a LOT more damage then RIFLES, because 9mm is bigger then 5.56, right?.

theres a solid 110.73$ for DLC, avoid this game like the PLAGUE.
