With the new Star Wars Battlefield on its way, I think I should give this a review.

Bullet Points
-The normal game is great, but the modded game is amazing.
-The modding community is still active btw :)
-No DLC, you get a full game with tons of maps.
-The ability to install mods with even better maps (such as ones with space to ground combat in a single map with destructible capital ships)
-Clone war era combat as well as the Galactic Civil War
-Story mode which follows the 501st
-Space battles
-Galactic conquest, take over the galaxy by ordering fleets into battle and doing upgrades
-Again mods make things better, unlimited eras. Play as anything from Mass effect fractions to Clone commandos.
-Installing things such as game ranger gives you the ability to play with other players and even in mods that support multiplayer.
-Graphics are aged but don't look terrible if you install some graphics mods such as redone maps, the unofficial patch and toss on an ENB

Modding info:
(disclaimer I own nothing)

-Moddb has been probably the best place to get mods from. Most mods are "side mods", meaning that they add in a new "era" which has custom sides. ex instead of clicking "Clone Wars" you would click "Battlefront Extreme" in order to play said mod. Gamefront also has many mods.

This is one the best side mods (DON'T OVERLOOK THIS!!!): http://www.moddb.com/mods/battlefront-extreme-bfx/downloads

-These are the better ones for space to ground, look for the maps that they add in the map list to play them:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/star-wars-battlefront-iii-legacy/downloads/battlefront-iii-legacy-open-beta-2

-In order to play most mods, you will need the unofficial 1.3 patch installed, this video will show you how to do that (not made by me I'm just linking it, the author said it was ok):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRpmaWGSEZA

After that you can install mods by dropping their folder into a folder named addon; if you do not have a folder named addon create one in "Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData"
My battlefront is installed to my D drive so my addon folder is located here:
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon

Hey just to let every one know, if you would rather just add me as a freind to ask me questions thats ok, I have had quite a few people do that already it's no problem. If it's a small thing, and it might help others, then the comment section here is best because others will see it so it may help a person wondering the same thing.

I would have much more if steam counted offline, I try out a lot of mods. There are so manny mods this game has unlimited content it's great. I have played from pirate mods, to modern era mods, through knights and tons of starwars mods, there is even a mass effect mod lol.
