DE:

EN:
I wanted to give this game a fair chance – especially since it was heavily discounted during the Steam Summer Sale. Unfortunately, Ubisoft as a company makes things unnecessarily difficult. Even though I legally bought the game on Steam, I can’t play it because it won’t link to my Ubisoft account.

Ubisoft games purchased on Steam require activation through Ubisoft Connect, which used to be straightforward. But now Ubisoft has apparently stopped providing activation keys, making it impossible to play a game you rightfully own.

I’ve been in contact with Ubisoft Support for over nine days now and still haven’t received any response. It really feels like the company only cares about money – not about customers or service.

Bottom line: Until Ubisoft fixes this issue, I cannot recommend buying any of their games.

Hey HAMIBONERD

I'm sorry to hear that you encountered issues accessing your copy of The Division 2 due to not receiving the activation key. I understand how frustrating that must have been.

Please note that most Ubisoft games purchased on Steam do not require an activation key. Instead, a digital license is automatically linked to your Ubisoft account when you launch the game in Steam for the first time.

Once activated, the game cannot be linked to another Ubisoft account.

If you are still facing this issue, download and Install Ubisoft Connect from the official website[www.ubisoft.com]

Run both Ubisoft Connect and Steam clients as administrators. You can find instructions here: Running applications with administrator rights[www.ubisoft.com]

Sometimes, you need to close Ubisoft Connect completely (not just minimize it to the system tray) and then launch the game from Steam to ensure the accounts link correctly.

A potential solution that other players reported worked for them:

Log out of Steam and close the application.

Log out of Ubisoft Connect and close it as well.

Go to the "appcache" folder inside your Steam directory and delete everything inside it.

Launch the game by double-clicking its desktop shortcut.
This will automatically open Steam and prompt you to log in, followed by Ubisoft Connect asking for your login.

You’ll then be prompted to link the game to your Ubisoft account. Click Continue, and the game should launch successfully.
