The first Yakuza game in the series I played, and I'm completely blown away by the story driven narration, cinematic cutscenes and gameplay contents. So much so I even went and played the remastered Kiwami 1 and 2 within a few weeks of finishing this game, as I'm so invested into the series now.

Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the 2005 Yakuza game, and is set in the late 80s Japan of fictional Tokyo and Osaka districts. A third person adventure and action game set in an open world environment with tons of explorations, substories and minigames to experience. You get to play as two young protagonists in the game that alternates between each chapter; Kiryu Kazuma and Goro Majima, both associated with the Yakuza Tojo Clan and both having their own struggles with the clan's subsidiary families' fight over power and growth.

Gameplay is similar to your typical button smashing brawler game, however what makes Yakuza different from other brawler games is the different variety of "Heat Actions" you can execute to finish off your enemies. With each subsequent skills you unlock in a Skill Tree as you progress, you also have the potential to unlock various Heat Actions that can provide a satisfying and sometimes hilarious blows, and finishes against your opponents with a weapon or your bare hands.

Substories and minigames are also one of Yakuza's strongest emphasis on content besides the story missions. The amount of substories you can do almost equates to the length of the main story itself. Although some substories are very plain and simple to complete, there are a few others that can really crack a smile on your face with the associated characters's hilarious dialogues and/or actions that almost defies logic. Likewise, there are also plentiful of minigames you can participate in and win unique items and gears with. However, what I dislike is when certain substories are blocked behind a particular minigame that can result in a huge grind to complete, especially those tied with gambling.

Cutscenes, combined with excellent Japanese voice acting and cinematography are absolutely stunning to watch between story chapters. Almost every cutscene in the game can be a potential wallpaper material. Although some may argue that the cutscenes are too long for a game, I would definitely say that the length is perfect for telling the story of the two protagonists and their struggles.

To be honest, I really do enjoy playing this game as indicated by those 200+ hours. However, the most recent update (Jan 15th) pretty much lit the game along with it's playerbase on fire. There are ups and downs to this update, but as a pretty passionate player myself who keeps up with the latest announcements, I felt that there's more cons than there are pros.

Pros:
- New revamp update, new Season and completely new look to Kurtzpel. Season 2 had just started with more rewards you can get by simply playing the game.
- Eltheca also got a completely new look to it, new featuring a forest like area as seen with the Training Grounds instead of a floating stone island.
- DLC karmas now cost 100 CP to unlock instead of grinding 60k CP or spending $USD10 to use it.
- New added gamemodes for both PVP and PVE, refreshing the combat gameplay.
- PVP ranking now easier to achieve to Rank A.

Cons:
- Devs removed the Steam inventory system, despite literally over 90% of the active and passionate playerbase suggesting it's a completely wrong move. With the Steam inventory system now gone, the Steam marketplace will inevitable crash when all available stocks hit zero supplies since nobody is now allowed to move items to the Steam inventory. This also means that you can no longer make a few bucks of Steam Wallet cash selling items you don't need to use. Additionally, if you got an alt character, any costumes, accessories and emotes will not be inter-transferable with your main character. I felt like this move is an intentional strategy made by the devs to promote more grinding and encouraging players to spend IRL cash for cosmetics when before you don't even have to.
- CP shop cosmetics, very overpriced and also lacks a lot of the items that were included in the Supply Box before the update. Yes, you can now purchase cosmetics without having to rely on the mercy of the Supply Box RNG system. However, it's only just generic casual cosmetics that are now included and any exotic ones will require you to spend IRL cash to get via the newly added KP currency.
- NPC affinity now removed. I felt this should also be a negative point as it does provide players a goal for playing the game. With it now gone, you can no longer learn about certain NPCs and their backstories in Kurtzpel. Additionally, item rewards for Crim and Ensher can no longer be obtainable for players who didn't achieve max affinity with those two characters. This will also mean that affinity related Steam achievements will now be broken as well.
- Stats resets. So basically, if you invested any CP into upgrading your Karma, costume and accessories for that extra stats boost. Well, say good bye to those thousands of precious hard grind CP you earned through hours of gameplay, because you're not getting a refund LOL.
- Karmas now require you grind from the bottom up. So you achieved max AP and 3 stars for your Karmas that you spent dozens of hours grinding PVE and PVP to get to? Well, good bye to all the sub karma crystals and karma skills you've unlocked before the update because now they worth jacksheet[i.imgur.com]. Now you'll have to grind all the same crystals and skills from the ground up with the new added DP system[i.imgur.com]. Now ain't that motivating!?
- DP system. There's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DP cap!? You serious mate? Game promotes you to grind DP to unlock your Karma skills, yet they place a cap on the amount of DP you can earn, wtf!?
- Karma stats reset after the Jan 15th update. Yeah lol, ya just gonna have to rely on the mercy of RNG stats re-roll with magic stones. Because before, as least you can choose your stats you want to invest in to get the most out of your Karma with the cost of a couple of thousand CPs.

There is a lot of potential to this game and I really do want to see it get out of Early Access and succeed. But since the devs don't listen to the majority of the passionate community members and throw their feedbacks and criticisms aside, it's really hard to see the future of this game when a lot of people now are leaving negative reviews on Steam[i.imgur.com]. So if anyone's keen on trying this game out now as of it's current state, don't let my negative review stop you from trying it out. You may enjoy it or you may not, give it a go and produce an opinion on whether you think the current state of Kurtzpel will achieve it's long term success.

Been wanting to get my hands on this game for a while after I finished Mafia 2. It's a classic masterpiece with a rich story to tell, that features a former cab driver in a fictional American city of Lost Heaven, who got caught up in the criminal era of Mafia gangs in the early 20th century. The gameplay is comparable to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, where you have an "open-world" style map for exploration. For a game that game out in the early 2000s, you honestly can't really complain too much about the graphics and somewhat clunky control movements.

Shining Resonance Refrain is a JRPG remastered version of the Japanese exclusive "Shining Resonance". The story plot revolves around the main protagonist Yuma Ilvern, a teenager who holds the power of the Shining Dragon, who ventures off on a journey with his fellow comrades to stop the Empire from utilising and abusing the ancient dragon's power to achieve their selfish goals.

The game's story plot is a bit cliche, where you have the main protagonist who progresses throughout the game, learning about the "bad guys" and their goals, gathering and helping strangers who later becomes your comrade that shares a common goal to defeat evil. Character development for the main protagonist is well written, as the more you progress through the game, the more you learn about Yuma's "Shining Dragon" powers and how he acquired them. On the other hand, character development for the other playable protagonist is a bit subtle in the main story, however you do get to know them better throughout conversations and chats in side-quests, dates and skits.

Gameplay wise, it's pretty identical to the "Tales of" JRPG franchise that utilises the Linear Motion Battle System, unlike the conventional JRPG games where in battle it's mostly turn based. One of the biggest downside to Shining Resonance Refrain's battle system is the clunky movement mechanics. I felt like I have to punch the buttons twice in order to initiate an attack. Yuma's Shining Dragon form is honestly the hardest to control with this mechanic. Likewise, the sprinting mechanic is just horrible to control outside of battles, especially when you want to take a sharp turn. Additionally the stopping slide animation just doesn't really help with the experience.

Side quests are almost useless towards the progression of the main story. Although they do help you gather some specific and unique rewards and monster datas, the side quests do tend to repeat itself every once in a while after you take a rest at the inn. This can be a nuisance to manage given that you also have other side quests to do.

The game's world map isn't all that big, which can be pretty boring to explore especially given the fact that there is literally only one big city and the rest of the maps are just "dungeons" with monsters. It took me around 10-12 minutes to sprint from the city all the way to the end of the map without any enemy engagements. Not to mention, the city itself is pretty small and generic as well with not much to interact with. Heck, you can't even enter any of the houses nor buildings! But hey, at least on the bright side you can date your favourite waifus and husbandos, and have cute skits afterwards. kirika best grill

Pros:
- Great character development for main protagonist and some of the other playable characters.
- Each playable characters are unique and all have their own personalities, which can provide some pretty memorable moments.
- Amazing and quality 3D models and animations.
- Amazing voice acting that really do bring the characters into life (especially for the Japanese version).
- Beautiful soundtracks.
- Lots of skits both within the story, side quests or just regular conversations with other protagonists in the city. Which can produce quite some memorable moments.
- Restartable boss battles. So when you die, you don't have to restart from the last save file.
- You can control other characters as well, to suit your RPG gaming style.
- Tutorials will always be given out whenever you play as another protagonist in the world map, as well as readily available at the Inn.
- Post-game bonuses and dungeons, as well as additionally post-game skits.
- You can date your favourite waifus and husbandos! Which can also determine your story ending outcome given that enough affection points is gather.
- Free DLC costumes, so you can make all your waifus run around and fight monsters in swimsuits. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
- Rinna's beautiful and thicc thighs.

Cons:
- Cliche story plot.
- Clunky battle mechanics and sprinting animations.
- Grinding extreme, which can discourage a lot of people from progressing this game.
- Small city and world map, makes for boring exploration.
- Repeating side quests, which causes management problems with other side quests. Especially given the fact that completed quests aren't marked at all in the menu.

Although there are several complaints that I have about this game, overall I really do enjoy playing and finishing this game. Heck, I even went for a second playthrough in Refrain Mode just for some of that additional character content. If you enjoy playing the "Tales of" series franchise, you can definitely give Shining Resonance Refrain a go as well. But just don't expect it to be nearly as good as the recently released Tales of Berseria in terms of gameplay mechanics and story plot.

Overall, I would give this game a 7/10.

Also additional notes: There is no difference between the Original and Refrain Mode in terms of story plot. If you don't want to play the game for a second time but want to get achievements and additional content, ignore the game's warning and play Refrain Mode. The only difference is that you'll be able to play as Excella and Jinas, have access to their unique skits, as well as having the ability to date them.

When I first bought this game, I had skepticism on whether this may be one of those poorly made, cheap, cash grab Chinese games that you tend to see flooding the Steam store nowadays. But I was proven wrong, very wrong. After completing both Daisy and Violet's route in about 60-ish hours, I can say that this is probably one of the BEST Chinese made visual novels you can get your hands on for a relatively cheaper price to the Japanese counterparts.

Quality-wise, the game does feel a bit "unfinished" since there are a lot grammar and vocabulary mistakes within the English version of the script. Some of which don't even match what the characters say in Mandarin. In some scenes, the script and the voice acting doesn't even match at all, which I do believe is a bug. Despite the flaws, visually this game is very top quality with it's character art style and auditorily, has a very beautiful and relaxing soundtrack to listen to. Not to mention, the Chinese voice acting is also very top notch.

The story plot is pretty well written and executed with very good character development. However, it does feel a bit generic and cliche like literally every school/drama anime TV shows. In terms of picking routes, there isn't much option around other than the 3 sketch book scenes. If you choose the picture of Daisy, you'll proceed down that route and vice versa for the final chapter.

Pros:
- Visually stunning
- High quality voice acting
- Great and relaxing OST
- Great character development
- A very cheap price tag for the amount of content given
- Easy to gain Steam Achievements

Cons:
- Vocabulary and grammar issues throughout the English verison of the game, which I do believe it was translated by a English Second Language (ESL) student.
- Somewhat "unfinished" with a few bugs relating to unmatched voice acting and scripts, most notably in some scenes in Chapter 4.
- Lack of "route choosing options" within the game. The only major decision you make is literally the 3 scenes with the sketch book.

Overall, I would give this game an 8/10.

Dead Frontier is one of my most favourite free-to-play games ever. I started playing DF1 around early 2012 and fell in love with the survival aspect of the game, which I ended up playing for over 4 years. However I quitted due to the repetitiveness and pay-2-win aspect of DF1.

Dead Frontier 2 on the other hand, eliminated the pay-2-win system and completely focuses on hardcore survival in a "realistic" style setting. You'll have to frequently eat food and drink water to not starve to death. Zombies are now a lot more harder to kill, and looting necessities such as food, meds and ammo are a lot more scarce. Not to mention, the atmosphere of the game fits perfectly well for a horror game as you'll never know when a zombie might walk up on you from the dark. Since the game just came out a day ago, I've already pumped 11 hours into this game, and to be honest every hour is worth it. I will definitely stay tune and look forward to more future updates, such as achievements, weather cycles, item icons, and more weapon variety.

P.S. Adminpwn, pls add Aussie server.
thnx

Closers is a free to play Korean hack-n-slash role-playing game that introduces you to the near future, where the "Dimensional Aliens" started spawning all over the world through portals and mercilessly destroying everything they come in contact with. You can choose any of the 8 characters to play as, each with their own special abilities, play-style and backstory to the game. For each character you choose, the game will introduce you into a tutorial to learn each of their attack patterns, combo and combat tactics. The gameplay is pretty straight forward, where you accept the quest, deploy into the city, terminate the aliens, get rewards after each mission. The developers are also actively adding new content every few weeks, which helps to ensure the game doesn't get too repetitive.

On the other hand, there are also a two major downsides to this game. Closers only have two servers available, one in the EU and one in NA. Unfortunately for Aussies like me, internet lag is quite an issue when long range connectivity must be utlitised to play the game. Delayed attack and damage registry is a common barrier that I have to deal with whenever I do a quest. Additionally, accounts between the two servers cannot be transfered. I.e. if the NA server has technical issues where you cannot join the game and you wanted to play on the EU server, you'll have to start all over again.
Considering that Closers is free-to-play, the game also includes a lot of paid content and micro-transactions. This can be quite discouraging since a lot of the higher tier gear and costumes can only be purchased through real cash. Another alternative is through the "black market", where the cost of purchasing these high tier gear and costume is insanely expensive in terms of in-game credits. For example, a pirate hat costs about 20 mil in-game credits, like WTF!?

TL;DR + other additions.

Pros:
- Up to 15 characters (and counting) to choose from, each with their own unique backstory to the game
- Gameplay is very simple and easy to learn
- Devs are actively updating and adding new content
- Daily missions and bonuses
- Weekly special events
- Bosses are fairly easy to defeat, even without higher tier paid gears.
- Amazing soundtracks
- Quite addictive (not sure if this goes to pros or cons, but whatever).
- Game is free!

Cons:
- Only two servers available: NA and EU. Rip Oceania.
- Non-transferable account between two servers.
- Game is somewhat "paid-to-win" in terms of PVP, but PVE can be easily overcomed with crafting gears earned through gameplay.
- A few minor bugs that may occur between update patches.
- Can get a bit repetitive, since you must complete the same map up to 3 or 4 times before advancing the story.
- Fatigue system, which discourages binge and hardcore gaming. The devs removed this, Whoo!
- Very looooooooong initial loading screen which can take up to 10 mins. Sometimes, it'll just not login to your account and crash the game.
- Only available on Windows a moment of silence for the people who game on Macs

Overall, I'll give this game a 7/10. Although there are quite a few flaws to the game there is still a lot of potential for improvements, especially since the devs are actively seeking feedback and introducing new content.
