When I saw the trailer for this at The Game Awards I wasn't really impressed with anything shown. I thought it would end up being another shovelware f2p game but I was pleasantly surprised.

The gameplay is really solid, I've played against every Lancer/Hero and none of then felt more powerful then the rest, (especially compared against the free Lancers)

The game plays like COD mixed with Valorants heroes, the main gamemode being SnD, but TDM anf DM is available. A zombies mode is also included but I haven't tried it.

The card system is actually very interesting that keeps rounds from feeling too same-y and lends a nice little dash of additional strategy.

As for the monetization, well it is a f2p game so all the trimmings are there (BP, Cash Shop, Events etc.) I'll say in the first 4 hours I put in the game I earned enough free currency to unlock a new hero and the game through me a free character unlock as well. The game throws a lot of charms, stickers, and player card customization options at you constantly, with weapon and character skins either unlocked with either real currency or through the in game events and some lootbox mechanic that either earn through unlocks, their membership program, or premium currency.

The Battlepass actually gives you back your currency if you complete it (which is what I consider a "good" BP)

I've never been big on buying skins or spending money on F2P games so I find it very easy to ignore monetization (even though I think heroes in games shouldn't have to be bought (like in Dota 2 or Marvel Rivals).

If are one of those people that don't really care about skins as well you'll find Fragpunk to an extrealy solid and well polished game that's definitely worth your time to try, you might find yourself surprised like I did.

If you love CRPGs you need to play this game. A very interesting setting with really good writing. Yes combat is difficult but if you go in knowing this, and play with care, you begin to feel really proud of your accomplishments!

This is a game that actually takes into account the choices you make, much more so than something like Mass Effect, Fallout, or a lot of games today that promise such things. Your dialogue options, your stats, your skills, all of this will unlock (or lock you out) of certain areas and paths in a way that encourages multiple playthroughs and builds.

This is a fanatastic game for those looking for something a little more different and involved that the typical modern RPGs coming out today, do yourself a favor and pick it up.
