Having around 1,744 hours in the original game (go ahead, check my profile) I feel like I was inherently going to like the game. Despite this bias, it's important to realize that when it's called Doki Doki Literature Club Plus, the Plus should be taken at face value. It is the base game PLUS around 2-5 hours or so of extra content and quite a bit of new art and music. My suggestion would be to download the free original, play that, and if you like it THEN buy this, do not start with this. The original will deliver a better experience in my opinion, and it is free, so it's a no-brainer to start with. The only issue is that you will be required to play it over a couple times to unlock all of the new content, although if you enjoyed it enough to buy the game it should be no issue for you.

It is important to realize that despite the original game being what it is, the new side-stories have no horror in them, just straight VN pumped right into your hungry eyes. For someone like me who came here for the characters, that is no issue, but if you wanted more crazy horror don't bother here.

What you're gonna get out of DDLC+ is entirely based on what you got out of the original, so if you are like me and got a new favorite IP, pick this one up no questions.
