TL;DR: If you haven't played DDLC, liked the characters in DDLC, or just want to support Team Salvato, I'd recommend picking this up. However, if you like DDLC because of the way it subverted traditional VN gameplay and are looking for more of that, DDLC+ probably won't do anything new for you.

Pros:
  • It's DDLC
  • New side stories do a good job of fleshing out the characters more and going into the origins of the club
  • New CGs are very good
  • HD sprites
  • "VM" adds a bit more lore and is a decent workaround for preserving the original game experience while also making it cross-platform
  • New music that uses remixes of the original music are pretty good

Cons:
  • Original music for DDLC+ is weak, mostly forgettable
  • The characters get kinda too introspective at times in the side stories to the point where it feels fake
  • The side stories are very similar to each other
  • The "VM" environment doesn't really have the same thrill of editing your own filesystem and feels much more on-rails with "permissions errors" in the game file browser even though you log in as root lmao
  • Side stories don't really have a ton of connection to the main story, I would've liked to see side stories exploring the more extreme scenarios like Natsuki's dad, Yuri cutting, or Sayori's depression but the most you get is some passing mentions here or there
  • The side stories have no choices, they're just click-to-read
  • I would've liked to see a story dealing with the aftermath of the game and a bit more of the meta commentary that was such a big part of the original game

There are other reviews here that are longer than this VN. Not this one though, I don't want to waste my life.

Some people can't stop talking about this game and others wish they would just shut up. But regardless of how cringeworthy some fans are or how forced Undertale memes are nowadays, there's a very good reason that the fanbase is as large as it is.

Undertale is one of the best RPGs in recent history, and quickly made its way up as one of my favorite games of all time. The decisions and dilemmas you're presented with, the story itself, the characters, they all make playing the game such a unique and enjoyable experience (assuming that you haven't already been spoiled). The game is full of funny moments, but also has its share of heart-wrenching scenes.

As for the music, what else is there to say that hasn't already been said a million times? Even after more than half a year since the game's release, the soundtrack's chiptune melodies are still some of my favorite songs to listen to.

The fanbase has a lot of issues, not only with memes, but with people basically trying to kill you if you don't play Undertale the way they want you to, and inserting it into everything, even when Undertale is not even remotely applicable. But if that's your only reason for avoiding this gem, I'd highly recommend ignoring those people and trying it out for yourself.

Undertale is a fantastic game, and it is best played the way it was intended: however you want.

WB compensates its customers for buying a broken game (Arkham Knight) by giving them an even more broken game. I can't even get to the actual gameplay without the game crashing on the latest patch and NVIDIA driver.

Would've preferred the season pass instead.

After almost 5 months, has this game improved? Yes, but not by much. We finally have the graphics settings that we should've had in the first place, but the engine is still an unpolished mess. Stuttering is frequent and I can rarely get above 60 FPS even with shadows turned down at 1080p on a GTX 970, and despite all of Rocksteady's patches, the game has crashed multiple times on me for no reason on the latest version. Which doesn't make sense, considering the load on my GPU never goes above 70%, yet the game still drops frames for no reason. And what do we get for our troubles Rocksteady? Some TF2 items, a challenge pack, and the previous games that most of us already own? Come on, I expected better. Also, no multi-GPU support on a modern PC game is ridiculous.

As for the game itself? The gameplay is good, the Batmobile is fun to use (although the number of drone sequence gets a bit repetetive towards the end), and story is also pretty good. Granted, it's not an original story and the Arkham Knight is exactly who you think it is if you're familiar with the Batman mythos, but it's still told in an enjoyable way with excellent voice acting.

Early Access Review
My friend told me to play this game. I spent 10 minutes walking around a map with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Moon textures only to find a poorly-modeled radio and asteroids that warp through space before reaching the surface. We are not friends anymore.

Game doesn't even have a title screen so that we can skip directly to the plot.

11/10 IGN "Like Cookie Clicker with boobs"

Now that I have the mandatory joke review out of the way, let's actually talk about how the game performs. It's boring. Simple as that. Aside from some good visuals that the Sakura series is known for, there really isn't much to mention here. You can customize your character with a variety of facial expressions, hairstyles, and an outfit, each with their own palette swaps. If you want other outfits, there are a few that can be purchased for 99 cents a piece. Why you would want to is something I can't comprehend. Your character is just a static visual, who doesn't move a millimeter throughout the game. There are no upgrades, and no sign of progress other than an increase in money and the occasional background change. You click to hit the monster girls (which is just weird), and get money to buy more girls to help you hit more girls. Takes about 3 minutes to see everything this game has to offer. Winged Cloud should've just stuck with making VNs instead of this piece of crap.

But hey, there's a link to the developer's Patreon in the game, and for just $25 a month, you can get a monthly high res hentai wallpaper (certainly more high res than this game, the visuals look like crap in fullscreen).

If you're already here, you know what to do. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It's bad. You watch the game play itself with mediocre artwork.

Was trying to get achievements, unlocked a secret feature on my video card. On one hand, the card no longer plays games. On the other hand, I am now the proud owner of a new toaster oven.

On a serious note, don't get this software if you don't know what you're doing, because you can easily do irrepairable harm to your graphics card, and if you're an overclocker, don't get the Steam version. Instead, download it right off EVGA's website, since the Steam version requires Steam to be open, and prevents actions like verifying game cache while it's open.
