I want to recommend this game I truly do....and it's so close. Maybe the new business partnership will allow them to address my points below. Generally I like the game. It has a lot of fun mechanics, especially with certain mods, which have more content than the base game but that's another story. It manages to combine the gameplay elements of several genres into one, and is more ambitious than it seems. I play with mods so I can only comment on that but there is lots to see and do, the ship building is fun and rewarding and no other game can quite capture this.

Of course with all these different elements in play, there is jankiness and a lack of polish to the individual systems that power it all, IE sound effects. It's a mishmash of pre canned sounds that are almost comical in quality. Feels very placeholder, which it is. Same with NPC's, mobs and other assets.

To me this is the more glaring and fixable problem, and a big source of negative criticism, and to me personally one of the biggest sore spots. Seems to be on the bottom of the priority list...trust me they know full well. Makes it feel incomplete, low effort and alpha quality. The main story is also unfinished. Literally unity asset scorpions and spiders which feel really out of place in an abandoned ship dungeon in orbit. At least buy a new asset pack or something. It hasn't changed in forever. You think i'm kidding? 90% of the npc aliens in a space station are these guys from the unity store[assetstore.unity.com] .....just wait till you see the humans in a button down and khakis.....really helps with immersion. Come on guys, step it up.

What a bunch of salty players. I may be new, but this game gives me everything I have wanted in a space sim, and now with ground combat/exploration, because why not? Sure it could use some performance improvements, but it runs fine on my aging Ryzen 7 2700x/GTX1080 combo. There is so much to do, if you only play solo and get bored, or don't want to spend the time to get gud at pvp that's on you. No game can entertain everyone forever. I tried No Man's Sky, hate it. It's for kids. I tried X4, a little too involved for my tastes. This game, for me, strikes the perfect balance between hardcore space sim and casual trading/exploration. The visuals are good, the sound is AMAZING, the combat is fun and I find the BGS fun to play around with. I participate in a powerplay community and have a blast. As I'm sure others have said before, you get out of this game what you put into it.

At this point I think the only things missing (for me) are landing on atmospheric planets and on foot combat in VR. It would be really cool but it's not a game breaker, I understand how much work that would be.

The devs have paused the console release due to the Odyssey complaints, so they are listening.

There have been several updates, optimizing performance, with update 7 on the way that is adding ship combat to ground combat zones, among other things.

This game is not for everyone in general, it is VERY niche but FDEV can't just cater to space sim fans only forever. No one is forcing you to do any of the ground stuff...the game is about options and I think they are doing a fine job.

And to all the people complaining about ship interiors...seriously...why? What are you going to do, go to the kitchen and get a virtual snack then take a crap in a virtual bathroom while you are in SC assist? Come on. Now if something was added like where you need to repair ship systems manually with tools and run back and forth to turrets like in Guns of Icarus, that would be cool...but don't hold your breath.

I don't generally review games but this one deserves it. A negative review, that is. I didn't follow NMS up until release so I wasn't part of the hype machine. However after playing for a bit then going back and seeing how this game was supposed to pan out, the promises that were made and how underwhelming the final product is, it's shocking that this glaringly unfinished, buggy, empty and ultimately unfufilling experience can pass for a full price AAA game is beyond me. It's just a patchwork of mediocre elements loosely and haphazardly thrown in, which don't add enoough on thier own to enhance the overall gameplay, if you can even call this a game, more like a tech demo of what the engine can do like others have said. I'm past the point of refunding at this point but Hello Games really dug thier own grave with this one.

The port to linux is nearly flawless for me, running ubuntu 14.04 x64 with a GTX650ti Boost 2gb...probably the best port on the platform yet next to Civ V. Great job, guys.

Also, the game is pretty fun =) Gets hard as hell, though.

"Linux version" is just wine. Not only is it wine, it has the same bugs from the winehq site, corrupted graphics that make it unplayable...looks like they could not do it natively easily enough so they slapped us in the face and are charging 20 bucks for a purely wine wrapped game, and didn't even bother to fix the GLARING GRAPHICS CORRUPTION, and to make it worse they have not even responded to complaints.

Fail all around. Maybe if they fix this itll be worth it. But for now...no, not even close. Witcher 2 was a better port than this.

Absolutely love it. It's dark, it's violent, and it's intense. Nothing like hiding under a table while a minotaur of doom scans the room with glowing red eyes, intent on eating your face. Greek zombies? Check. Tridents? Check. Sandals? Check. Some people are put off by the music and graphics, but they fit the game well. And all for under 10 bucks.

The battles between pieces are entertaining, and the graphics are acceptable. It is a true sequel to the original AMIGA classic, in name and in spirit. As it is in early access it is a bit rough around the edges...there are a few crashes here and there but it all works surprisingly well.

There are several animations for each piece and side, and some are hilarious. The queen is just as cocky as she was in the original =) Hopefully there will be content updates, maybe new skins etc. All in all, though, it is worth what they are asking for sure.

Don't let the name and screenshots throw you off, this game is certainly a gem. It's challenging and has a surprising amount of depth
