Combat is quite tactical. There is cover, but you will rarely get to use it, as enemies tend to rush you, and they can be quite tanky. Survival depends on triggering your abilities at the right time. Once this clicks, combat can be quite fun, but it is never very fun.

Ruiner is better in almost every way.

Imagine Diablo, but first person, with underwhelming loot, primitive netcode, and terrible balancing. Play it, if you must, but do not let it put you off the superior sequels.
