Yes, I'm doing the meme, hundreds of hours, not recommended. Nevertheless. I really didn't enjoy my time with Terraria. It felt like I was constantly looking for the fun but had to do work to get there, and the fun never really arrived.

Currently better than unmodded factorio, we'll see after the factorio expansion pack launch. It will still be good though.

You know how the foundational gag of The Stanley Parable is that there's this big inspiring story of defying the world that's trying to control you and escaping to freedom, but in the actual game you're not allowed to deviate from the path at all?

Final Fantasy 13 is that but unironically. For dozens of hours.

Somewhere out in the infinite possibility space there may well be a version of this game that had three times the budget/production value. That game is probably the greatest video game ever made. As it stands, Furi is still very good.

The combat system is *simple,* but it is anything but *basic*. The story is exactly as present as it needs to be to entertain while absolutely not getting in the way. The aesthetic is singular, the mood, refined. And, it bears repeating, the combat is simple, direct, and intense. It's an exercise in learning the opponent's capabilities alongside learning your own, which is a dynamic that should be well familiar to anyone who enjoys hard games.

Firmly recommended.

ULTRAKILL has effectively destroyed any desire I might have ever had to make a video game. Because as I play ULTRAKILL I realize that the video game that exists inside my dreams, the perfect game that I would make if I ever put in the time and effort to shape my masterpiece, is just a less good version of ULTRAKILL.

1010/10.

I certainly haven't yet put in the time this game deserves to write a comprehensive review, but you know what?

It's good. Don't sleep on this.

A Hat In Time is the kind of game where the only reason to not call it a 10/10 is if you're embarrassed to give a game a perfect score in an imperfect universe. It is top quality and easily merits a purchase.
