Skip this and Play Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary, Or Underworld and the Classic TR games for a REAL Tomb Raider gaming experience.

(MY REVIEW IS NOT ON THE GAMEPLAY OR MECHANICS, BUT ON THE ETHICS AND NARRATIVES OF THIS THE DEVS AND THE COMPANIES BEHIND THIS GAME)

This is NOT at all like the real Lara Croft, in this reboot trilogy she is represented this is a washed out boring cry baby replacement, if you want to play a weak female lead character in the most boring story game ever, the play this.

As a major TR fan I could not even finish this game because of how much they destroyed who Lara Croft is, I do not even recognize her, they erased her entire original personality and back story, she is NO longer confident, strong, a femm-fatale, witty with an actual personality, and its clear the devs do not like anything relating to classic Tomb Raider, they hate anything that made her LARA CROFT to begin with. She is no longer a strong feminist icon and I will dive into why here.

So in the story of this game there is this annoying fat Hawaiian man, named Jonah is the main character for some reason in all 3 reboot TR games, I think the devs don't like to see Lara without a man. Not only does he follow you around but helps Lara out on her puzzle solving like lifting doors LMFAO, so uhh Lara Croft, Needs help? especially from a man? That is SO FUNNY, so much for "strong independent woman" narratives in gaming.

Jonah the annoying fat guy berates Lara and also trauma dumps on her while dressing her wounds in this weird "intimate" scene with just the two of them, then at some point in the story he yells and blame her for some things and essentially "puts her in her place" it is very clear that the devs have a weird power dynamic between Jonah and Lara, because she always ends up coming back to him in times of distress, he is a very forgettable character that no one actually cares about but the devs insist on having him all 3 games... why? I will tell you why, it is To appease the mostly male audience that randomly picks up the reboot games, to have them feel like they "are taking care of and protecting Lara Croft" its a psychological thing they knew they could play on, despite her always being a very independent power fantasy character who always could handle things by herself.

Instead of wanting girls and guys to play the TR games and have them think "wow Lara Croft is so cool, I am inspired to be like her" no they them to react like this "wow she is so relatable, and I feel bad for her, I wanna protect her" this character archetype is so boring in gaming and so limiting and a slap in the face to the TRUE Lara Croft who was basically the holy grail of the most coolest and unattainable person ever!

The devs has clearly stated in interviews "Lara needs to get in touch with her emotions and be more vulnerable" this is why in all the reboots games she is crying. Its SO ANNOYING!

We would never see a iconic male dominant character be treated this way.

Also to mention, in every reboot game since 2013 they have increasingly tweaked and removed Lara's body proportions to look extremely different than her original iconic design, I have never seen a game character adjusted and tweaked as much as hers, they keep making her slimmer and less curvy as time goes on, ironically this puts more attention to her body because everyone wants to know why the devs keep changing Lara's looks, well its because they can't stand to see women in games who have curves who can look feminine and also hot while also being more than just her looks, like they are afraid of women showing skin in games now, by covering them up. I am certain that the devs are actually all misogynistic at this point. Meanwhile plenty of real woman out there have classic Lara Croft's body type so "realism" is not an excuse anymore.

How is it that out of all the TR games where Lara's body and skin is the most covered up she has ever been, the reboot games have the most Rule 34 content made after this model design? How does it make sense when they were so afraid of putting her in shorts in a tank top for that very reason but we see the opposite in these reboot games, hmm I wonder if it has anything to do with how she was portrayed in these reboots? Which was a damsel in distress essentially, someone who is not in control of her emotions, and it did not help that they added the most moaning voice over sounds ever all in out of all the TR games created in these reboots she is the most breathy and moany voice ever and it is actually weird, where she is being killed by "bad guys" and beaten and stabbed by them, not only that by being tied up and corned by a bad guy where we see him put his hands on her inappropriately insinuating a possible SA scene which is very questionable along with how she is killed in very brutal ways in all these reboot games, very graphic and bloody compared to anything from the past games.

I also wonder why the devs on insisting Lara be a "white knight" for the "natives and their rightful artifacts" , why not just make games fun again without politically motivated holier than thou narrative???

The fans have been asking to bring ANYTHING relating to a more classic Lara Croft in any future TR games but they have yet to listen to us since basically 2008, I really do not like giving them any of my money because they have disrespected everything that made classic Tomb Raider, the iconic and originally most memorable character ever, LARA CROFT. Now she is no longer that and you guys have a chance to redeem yourselves and bring her back to her roots to save this franchise from rotting away.

As a Tomb Raider fan I am disappointed in this collab. They added some weird pushy lesbian narrative with Lara Crofts quotes in this game, she says "where is Sam?" multiple times with a sad voice, its obvious what they are trying to do with their weird SHIP relationship relating to Sam and Lara, not to mention she has hardly a British accent, how could they mess her up that bad?

I paid $5 for an Americanized Lara Croft in which the game. Sam is just a basic and boring character in the 2013 reboot and forgettable and should have no mention at all here but is clear they just wanna push some weird ship relationship with Sam and Lara.

I love TR Underworld, my favorite level is the beautiful areas in Thailand, the scenery and tombs are absolutely gorgeous! This game has a wide range of environments you play in which makes it so fun! I wish it was longer in play time, but that's okay. If you liked this game make sure to play TR Legend and Anniversary too, such a fantastic trilogy!
