I don't like review bombing, but I have to side with protesters on this one. Will probably switch my recommendation afterwards.

It's a Yes but maybe not a full price, unless you really dig the franchise, since it's more of the same.

Game is a lot of fun and devs are being responsive so far. So yeah it's a casual, classic horde survival with a few traditional elements from this sub-genre. No story/lore whatsoever (not really an issue for me), and still with a few crashes. A few points devs could improve: the "skill tree" meta-progression is very short and the same for every "core" which lowers variety and replayability, and currency is a bit unbalanced (e.g. too much Energy and not much to use it for).

Supporting OpenIV team and the wonderful modding scene; will revert back to a positive recommendation once the situation changes.

Game is OK-ish, but I cannot recommend it in terms of narrative (which is THE point of the game). It stays close to the depressing style of the books/show, but with almost zero level of accomplishment. I find this approach perfectly viable in a written story, but not in a game where the player is the one pulling the strings, not the writer. In that regard, the cliffhanger at the end is not satisfactory by any stretch, when you finally figure out that many of the choices lead to nowhere but a bitter, (perhaps) inconclusive ending. I simply could not buy Telltale's neediness of creating drama through character failings and (so many) deaths while getting almost nothing in return (which does not happen with the original books/show).

I hope this approach changes in season 2, if I ever buy it.
