LOVE twin-stick shooters and Kill Knight is already in my top 10 list even though I haven't finished it.

The sound effects are cool and really pop while you're playing making everything come alive. They also serve as cues to perform various actions like reloading or particular enemy weapons. One is borrowed from classic Super Stardust. :) It uses a doom-like reward system where you can earn ammo, health, etc. by performing certain actions. Each enemy has a particular weapon vulnerability that can cut through them like butter.

Especially love that you can earn health since that means you're *never* out of the fight. It always seems to unlock new equipment right before you're about to quit, giving that, one more game feeling.

A few things I don't like: First is the music. While not bad it holds back the game from being a masterpiece. Also hate the equipment selection and upgrade page. The graphics are unclear, font hard to read, you almost have to guess at what each thing does. Let's just say there's enormous room for improvement.

I love this game. It passes the 'clinch your buns' test every time.

Just played for the first time and the destructive physics are quite impressive. If you're a guy you can kick yourself in the nads a few times to simulate the driving physics. NGL, had to rage-quit but to the games credit, didn't delete or refund. Next time I try am not going to expect a typical racing game where you try to win but instead a destructive playground with cars. Hopefully will have a better time then.

Just played for the first time (thanks to the SteamDeck, the backlog destroyer!) and surprised at how polished and fun Gene Shift Auto is. Couldn't remember buying it so came here and remembered it is actually free!

It's a F2P twin-stick battle-royal sandbox gta game. Admittedly don't understand all the things going on yet and some players have way better weapons and shields, but the base game is fun and you get the sense there's lots more to learn and do.

Also surprising is for an older game the netcode works great with lots of real human players. Kind of rare these days. So much so I wrote this review hoping more people will discover and enjoy it too. Plays great on the SteamDeck. Thanks devs!

Competent little twin-stick shooter with a dash mechanic. Campy story and humor from hell. Played on the steamdeck and runs great.

The upgrade/store/rpg system is.. okay. It works. Wish you could go back to complete levels.

Overall an above average, old-school twin-stick shooter. If you already enjoy twin-stick shooters you will like this; otherwise probably not.

Upgraded from Ride 4 and got it on sale and was ready to return if it wasn't significantly improved. For me as a more casual player it's well worth it. The brakes seem stronger so you don't have to start braking such a ridiculously far distance before turns like in 4. You can bump other riders a little without crashing which is nice cause the ai still rams. There's a setting that enables more lenient handling when off track which makes practicing less aggro. Everything loads a little faster. All loading screens show the track! Appreciate the little video clip showing city highlights from where you're racing. $36 is still a lot for what essentially feels like polishing/physics tweaks. However I regularly play 4 so no doubt I'll continue playing 5 while enjoying all the QoL improvements.

This game feels and plays like the original Doom games. Many love it because of this and if you like the originals, you will probably love this too. For me though I didn't start liking Doom until the 2016 version, so don't really care for how this one plays.

Bought it cause it's one of the newer 'boomer shooters' and I like many of them, like Evil West and Amid Evil for example. This one though feels too old or too old school for my tastes. Can't really describe why exactly, it has to do with the feel, but for whatever reason it doesn't click with me.

Not only is it a good twin-stick shooter, it's also a great Darksiders! Played primarily as Strife cause I love twin-stick shooters and this is a fully fledged AA/AAA game based around the mechanic- that's my jam!

Takes a while to adjust to the isometric view but once you do it looks great actually. The art style is designed to make this perspective shine with huge sweeping views all 'tilted' just the right way. The fabulous dynamic music is perfectly integrated to the action and effectively sets the dark mood and atmosphere while playing. The voice acting and dialog are outstanding! As a prequel it's neat seeing how everything unfolded.

The gameplay is terrific if you like twin-stick shooters. Found myself a little disappointed whenever I had to use War. The game is designed though to switch between them based on the circumstances. War can block which lends itself to different strategies. Enjoyed all the puzzles and dungeons. There are many weapons/ammo to choose from to help solve them, as usual. Felt a little overpowered during the last 20% of the game but by that point you are barreling rapidly towards the finish.

Arena battles are one of my favorite parts of the game. Have to admit was primarily motivated to finish the game just to unlock all the arena battles. They are fun little mini-games you can drop in and play for just a few minutes at a time- perfect for the Steam Deck! Actually bought this on Switch to play portably but in ran so poorly it ended up just being a demo for the Steam version.

All the Darksiders games are interesting in that they're not afraid to mix things up between releases. They're willing to experiment with anything in the name of fun, which I've come to appreciate. Darksiders Genesis carries on that tradition with one of the coolest twin-stick shooters around today.

Bought this on PS5 and PC at launch so you know where I stand in terms of voting with your wallet. Insomniac earned this as one of my favorite studios. I've played all of the R&C's and this is one of my favorites.

Let's get the huge negative out of the way: it's a crying shame how they lobotomized the humor, dumbed down the story for three year olds, and shoved the most generic obvious morality so far down your throat you can't breath anything else. If you need a good narrative or count on the humor it's hard to recommend actually. Luckily you can pause then skip the cutscenes, which is so sad for a R&C, especially one with such high production quality. However they're really that bad: eye-rolling, vomit inducing, not funny-at-all dialog. Shame on letting this happen to such a wonderful series.

With that out of the way it's still an absolutely thrilling experience from start to finish because of the amazing visuals and phenomenal gameplay. R&C nails the formula of tickling your pleasure centers; visual, audial, sensory, muscle-memory, & rewards. I literally feel great while playing with a huge smile plastered across my face. In most games it's stupid to be smashing boxes everywhere but Ratchet trains you to crave that satisfying sound as you smash a huge pile of crates & ammo as they swirl around you like a tornado tingling against each other.

You can't wait to see what each new environment will look like and what craziness lives there. Each enemy is so fun and creative. All the weapons are so unique, yours and theirs. The projectiles look so cool as they're whizzing towards you in funny patterns- always slowly to give you time to dodge. Also appreciate the upgrade system that encourages you to utilize all your weapons.

The PSP versions didn't do R&C justice so playing the first half on the Steam Deck was a mini-dream come true. It plays really well around 45fps and enabling customized gyro for aiming makes it feel fresh.

Played the second half on my bigrig PC and OLED tv and holy moly what a time to be a gamer! Never dreamed gaming could be so good. Do yourself a favor and play with a DualSense controller (works wirelessly now). Completely elevates this game. It somehow connects to your inner caveman: vibrations good, mmm! The guns all pop and it's hard to describe but it just feels so damned satisfying feeling the haptics react to your gameplay. It's even useful like when you run out of ammo.

This version also adds a wonderful dash ability and traversing is super fast with mad acceleration. It will be hard to go back to older R&Cs without these features now. Highly recommend!

Fun little twin-stick shooter with a 'lasso' variation where you lock-on to the enemy by clicking the right stick (ugh), then you're tethered to them making it easy to shoot or whack them with your sword/bat. Bonus Ecto if you finish them off with your sword.

The levels are short and perfect for jumping-in for a few minutes at a time on the Steam Deck. Very addicting gameplay loop so you always want to finish just one more!

Jumping is critical for hopping around the platforms to avoid getting surrounded. Keep mashing the jump button if you fall off the ledge to make it back. There are crates that block your path you can smash to gain pickup items. The broken crate debris stay scattered around and hinder your movement so you must jump around them to avoid or sweep them away with your bat.

The controls are a little wonky, it's hard to lock-on consistently. The camera movement can also be wonky making it a little more challenging, and sometimes the lighting gets really dark making it more likely to fall off the edge.

The top bar is not your health meter and no idea what it is. Your health is the little number next to the little blue heart. You collect red orbs and a white orb but no idea what they do or their purpose. Upgrade abilities can be purchased with Ecto- some must be purchased before others but it's not clear which ones or why.

There's a mode you can activate after collecting enough Ecto but couldn't figure out how to activate/start the mode without remapping the controls as follows:

Made the left bumper the lock-on, and the left-trigger: jump. This lets you keep your thumbs on the sticks and not have to use the face buttons as much. Then made A and X multi-shot and Ectorage respectively. Not perfect but a big improvement for me.

A fun and a bit of a unique game that well worth it on sale. Really looking forward to see what this developer makes next!
