I cried like a baby.
Rakuen is one of those games that starts out simple, then tosses you headfirst into something much greater. This one happens to be a knuckle sandwich of all kinds of feels, but that's what we're paying for! It's bittersweet, whimsical, fun- all of the above and some more. The gameplay is easy, the story is immersive, and it left me with emotional damage. What more can you ask for?

It's cute, relaxing, and the food makes me want to demolish my local bakery.
Cozy Bee Games is one of my favorite developers, and Lemon Cake really shows off their skill. The graphics are super pleasing with bright colors and soft shapes, the story is super cute but not overdone, and the gameplay is engaging. I like that it's time-management but offers more than a single screen with some buttons and timers, instead giving you free reign over cafe, kitchen, garden, and home to ramp up the energy without just making it stressful. I love Lemon Cake, and you will too.

Who doesn't love clicking buttons and watching numbers go up?!
Nobody who matters, anyways. Cell to Singularity has a simple, familiar interface with a ton of fun stuff to explore, including in-game events that keep it fresh. While it's repetitive like any clicker game, it's a nice way to turn your brain off and indulge in some fanciful world-building. It brushes me the right way as a biologist, too, as it presents pretty accurate information and (with a grain of salt and some suspension of disbelief) can be a fun way to learn some new stuff. I like the fresher take on the 'reboot' feature, as it not only restarts you with buffs but unlocks new content.
It's a light, engaging game with a long life in your library. I return to it often and am always glad I did.

I mean, it's Spore. Almost enough said right there.
I grew up playing this game and it has a lot of nostalgic value for me, but even with that bias, it's a great game. It's not super difficult (although the space stage can get tricky) and offers a nice balance of exploration and goal-oriented play. The customization is of course crazy cool as one of the main appeals of the game- you can customize everything from your creatures to their clothes, vehicles, cities, and planets as you move forward.
Depending on how you play, it can be a quick romp or a drawn-out campaign, but I've gotten the most out of it by making weird stuff and seeing how far I can push it. Let the Intergalactic Federation of Worms rule the galaxy!
I definitely recommend Spore, as it's an accessible, fun, and visually engaging game. It's kept me playing for my whole life, so it has something to offer for everyone.

No Man's Sky had a rough start, but it's really blossomed. I have a great time exploring the universe in the various game modes available, with challenge levels ranging from super-chill to edge-of-your-seat. The tutorials are comprehensive and the quests are nicely-paced, and the planets are of course incredible. My favorite planet I've found so far is a tie between a mushroom planet and one with giant volcanoes and walls of purple fire- I almost died on that one! Overall, there are a lot of ways to interact with each planet and the universe really does feel endless.
Other players are primarily friendly and helpful (take a seat by the Nexus for a while and you'll often come back to a bag full of hadal cores or other items of varied usefulness) and I've experienced very little trouble with them. Folks are pretty happy to cooperate and explore together. I've been very pleased with the community.
Mostly, I enjoy the gorgeous graphics, weird critters, and endless opportunities for adventure. There's always a bit too much to do, which is how I like it. I'll be playing No Man's Sky for a long time.

Absolutely one of my favorite games of all time. Beautiful graphics and audio, quests that guide rather than play the game for you, and a great story! It's not overly difficult, but once you get into managing more things and some of the trickier platforming bits, it's a nice challenge. Highly recommended.

Not gonna lie, I got this for the meme, but it ended up being pretty fun. It's a silly game with wacky characters, and it made me laugh.

I love this game. It's pretty relaxing, but also has tougher parts, like the mines and skull cavern. After a few playthroughs it started feeling pretty repetitive, at which point I turned to the extensive modding community for help. A lot of management, keeping track of things, and remembering which character likes what (thanks, Haley, for not liking prismatic shards) on top of a peaceful concept make for a pleasant experience.

This game is fun and has great graphics, but is heavily pay to win. I've made my way on it without spending much money, but be prepared for either a tough route or an expensive one. If you're looking for something to play casually, go for this, but beware! It'll suck you in.

Very nice game. Lots of options as far as difficulty, and characters can be customized nicely. One of my favorite rpgs, for the great story, intuitive play, and awesome world. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy and a slightly dark storyline. It can be a bit confusing to get used to everything, but after some time it feels natural. Steal paintings and you will succeed.
