The game is dead now - there are basically no players. for some reason, a few folks still decide to pay for a sub, and maintain their palisades, which i think is cool.

Lots of parallels to draw, wurm online, ultima online, mount & blade, all of these games seem to be the inspiration for mortal online 1. You have mount & blade combat (directional attacking and parrying) and UO magic, leveling system, kind of the same for wurm online.

The world is massive. tons of places have unique mob spawns, dungeons are expansive, they are open world in the sense you just go to a place, and walk into it, assuming you can survive. Don't try to have a fist fight with a minotaur, you will not survive.

There are hidden places everywhere. Some will have a few nodes of an ore or rock you will find nowhere else nearby, a rock you would have to travel to the other side of the continent for. Some will have unique, one off enemies that appear nowhere else, and or unique to that cave only.

To discover everything in this game, you will have to learn. travel. discover. You want to get crafting recipes for certain armours? go collect animal parts and bring them to a guy hiding near the tekton bridge. Want unarmed weapons? Go kill megnaton alien bugs to harvest their brains and sell them to the guard of tindrem to buy the books to train, and the fist weapons to use. I could go on for hours. I really do love this game, it was my childhood (albeit, when it still had a few thousand players)

Diverse crafting, a gigantic world with open world dungeons. There are no loading screens apart form the one that you have when entering the game and when you go to the other continent. I stronlgy urge you to play this game, even if it's just f2p at first.

Warnings:

"Free" in this game means unlimited-limited trial. That means unlimited time, limited abilities. Or infinite limited trial if you'd like. Your skills are capped at 60 as a free 2 play. You cant craft good weapons, so don't. Paying for this game is somewhat expensive, but it is pretty worth it. Well, it would be if the game had more than 100 or so players.

Apart from the skill caps: theres barely anything else that a subscription does. Only other things would be thievery, wich makes it so you can steal ♥♥♥♥ from other's inventories like gold and jewels etc. You also get to own a house when you sub.

This game does not hold your hand. It's not for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, low-effort-mmo players and the like. Full loot system means you lose everything upon death.

And you will die.

And again.

And again.

And you will cry, but that's okay.

This game ain't pretty, and it's full of bugs, but there's nothing quite like it out there. Give it a try, will ya. Community is pretty supportive of new players. (Seeing as we need new ones because the game is barely holding up.)
