Solid bit of bite sized time wasting.
Binged a show while mass producing coal and finished it in about 6 hours.

The pixel art in game is actually very nice, and I hope the dev makes more projects.

Early Access Review
Game that's akin to Stardew in a lot of ways but lacking in a lot of areas. I'll condense it into Pros and Cons.

Pros
-Amazing Art, character portraits have a very unique "Sailor Moon" anime aesthetic that I love.
-Skill system that actually matters. No "10% increase to sales" boring stat increases, most of the skills actually change gameplay in a meaningful impactful way.
-Soundtrack kinda slaps, I found myself jamming out to the music in the mines.
-Town ranking system gives a great sense of progression.
-Very easy to lose yourself decorating if that's the type of gameplay you love.

Cons
-Characters are a little stale. While each character fits into their own niche of anime archetype there isn't really a sense of conflict or vulnerability to anyone. Sure, there's a mean guy with a heart of gold, and a posh girl who actually cares but, they're all practically "perfect". Shane in Stardew is a good example of a conflicted character. Although I will admit I haven't seen all the character events so I could be mistaken.
-Gameplay quickly becomes boring. Getting through the start of the game involves the chance to push through multiple tutorials for "cooking" "crafting" "blacksmithing" but they're all essentially just pressing a button on a menu. In fact the whole game is just running from one menu to the other. The only two styles of gameplay are farming or fighting in the mines. Some minigames to break up the monotony would help such as Fishing or Cooking.

I'd say its definitely worth it for the price but it could do with some more time for content/polish. A couple more characters are promised but I hope that some attention goes to gameplay also.

Don't bandwagon for politics, do your own research.

The person responsible for the review bombing, screenshots and info left out a lot of context regarding the initial ban, after that the whole situation revolved around using keywords to get banned from the global chat which in itself did reveal some flaws. There's barely any evidence of what they originally said to get banned. (However I will say in a screenshot THEY provided, the chat log shows them engaging in a conversation about "stinky boiz" and "buttholes")

The game itself is amazing, and i've spent many hours just chilling out with friends and i'm not even a big fan of tabletop RPG's, there's plenty of casual fun to be had.

The game is very clearly a local co-op game, yet the devs push the use of steam remote play and parsec as programs to play online and yet offer no support to issues the game's have with these programs.

Do not get this game expecting it to be playable in steam remote play/parsec as they say it is, you won't get any support from them for this.

I cannot say whether or not this is fun locally, all I can suggest with the way the world is nowadays is to work hard getting this game online and maybe it's worth a play because this game genre is certainly fun and definitely needs more attention.

Update: The devs did get back to me on my support post, a few weeks later. My specific issue doesn't seem to be fixed but they did offer support eventually and that's what matters. For now though sadly, i'd still recommend waiting for online support.

My friend Pedro seemed like a really pleasant surprise at first, but quickly changed its colours for me personally.
I'm recommending this game on the fact that what it does, i'm sure it does well, however for me I was disappointed.

Some Pros: Gunplay is amazing, Soundtrack is amazing and it doesn't cut corners, there's plenty of content. I know it's short but what more can be said, it delivers and that's why i'm recommending it.

Some Cons: I don't think the game is what is advertised, for the first few levels you're john wicking your way through some thugs and bad guys but then by around half way through the second chapter the game switches gears from a linear 2.5D Action game to a puzzle platformer. Involving levers which change the environment, tripwires you have to avoid, on-rails platforming and button sequencing. After each level the game has a function which saves a clippet of your gameplay into a gif file for you to share, don't rely on this. You might go through a level dodging every bullet, popping heads and being amazing but the gif will be of you farting down some stairs like a deflated balloon.

TL;DR if you buy this game expecting to feel like you're in the matrix 100% throughout you'll be disappointed, if you enjoy hopping around platforms, puzzles and motorbikes (especially motorbikes) You'll love it.

I'm a life long fan of DMC, grew up playing the first three to the point where 9 year old me would be mashing triangle and actually really enjoying DMC2 for whatever reason, The story clung to me and I honestly lost myself to these games as a youngster.

So I was eagerly awaiting this release, however after finishing the game I really can't help but feel like it's lacking something.

I'm definitely 100% recommending this game however, every game has it's flaws and this one doesn't have many so i'll start with the pro's.

The gameplay is solid, REALLY solid, you get a solid amount of time playing as all 3 playable characters, Nero, Dante and the mysterious V, and all 3 perfect for different styles. Dante allowing you to switch between 4 upgradeable "Styles" at a whim to change up the fight, V giving you control of 3 remote demons that fight for you (They're pretty much extensions of your character) and Nero who has a variety of different arms that honestly do a lot of insane things.

The soundtrack is amazing, while it does get a little out of hand sometimes (The last boss battle comes to mind but you'll see for yourself if you haven't already) it's still really solid and customisable in fact! Each of the 3 playable characters have different battle music, Nero's being the iconic "Devil Trigger". If you dislike one of them you can switch them up in the settings.

However I feel where the game is lacking is in the environments, In this iteration of the franchise I feel capcom have flung out their previous ideals with the game, you're no longer exploring as well as fighting, in the old DMC's each mission would usually revolve around getting a cool item that does some certain effect or unlocks a previous type of contraption you came across in an earlier mission, Now however it's "Run from point A to point B and murder everything you see". The missions have just kinda lost their creative sparks I feel. Especially at the environment design, you're only ever gonna be fighting in 2 kinds of environment the entire game, inside the tree and city ruins.

If you're new to the series definitely pick this up because you'll have a lot of fun, with only some references here and there you're not gonna get, if you're a die hard fan however like me? Don't go in expecting the saviour of the DMC series, only just a respectable edition, comparable to DMC4 perhaps.

Managed to stream this with no problems at all, got a couple good scares out of me and as a huge fan of resident evil i'm really looking forward to this.

Pros

-Graphics were great, running a GTX 1060 and had no problems at all
-Shooting zombies feels amazing, Seeing the gameplay in video makes it seem like the zombies are always not worth wasting the ammo on, as they seemed tanky but that's not the case, Sometimes I shot a zombie twice and he'd fall down, only to get back up the next time I passed that corridor, but other times i've shot a zombie twice and its head exploded in a REALLY satisfying way, really makes you consider which zombies are worth spending on the ammo on.
-Inventory upgrades seems to make the game less of a chore than it's predecessor, although still does not invalidate the item box in safe rooms and backtracking.
-NOT just a by the book remake, this game is not just resident evil 2 with better gameplay and graphics, be prepared to be surprised.

Cons.
(Dont have much cons but would like to address just a couple of small things to keep myself from being too biased)

-Movement needs getting used too, it's not perfect but I mean it's not bad, just "different". Leon moves in a way not really seen before in a resident evil game, with him turning towards the camera as you move forward, kinda reminds me of driving vehicles in Halo.
-Inventory seems to be a bit of a hassle still, although I guess that's to be expected in a resident evil game, Too many times have I picked up handgun ammo only for it to take another inventory slot and not combine with my previous ammo, only took up a few seconds of my time to combine it with my original ammo pool however.
- This isn't really a con but more of a thing of taste, I can see myself enjoying this feature but for a lot of wrong reasons. The game HATES pausing. Reading files or managing your inventory will not stop gameplay. You will still hear zombies breaking into the room nextdoor or slamming their big ♥♥♥♥♥ against the door next to you while you read or combine herbs, to a first time resident evil player you WILL be horrified. To a long time Resident Evil fan? You'll still be horrified but you'll love it, especially once Mr X arrives...

I played through the demo on keyboard and mouse, I feel the aiming is a lot better here however for managing your items perhaps a controller might be better.

An absolute delight to play.

Don't buy into the whole staple review process of "It's banjo kazooie!" "Super mario sunshine!" "It's banjo kazooie and marios lovechild!"

No, this game stands on it's own. An absolute unique experience. My only gripe is that there wasn't more of it to experience after I 100%'d it. Don't waste time considering this purchase, if you have the means go for it. You won't find anything better.

God Forbid you have an issue with this game.

I couldn't run this game from the start, i'm not saying it's unoptimized or even broken. This issue seemed to be rare but I wasn't the only having it. Upon start i'd get an error message and there have been others getting it. The only dev on the tech support section replied the same way to each complaing about this error message.

He would proceed to link the same link to them, which led to a checklist for this issue. EVERY person who got linked this went through the checklist and proceeded to report that it didn't help, myself included.

The developer then proceeded to either ignore or accuse the paying customer of having a faulty PC, despite them being perfectly capable at running every other game they owned. (I myself just seem to have been getting ignored after going through the same thing)

I believe in customer service, I doubt Insurgency is the most demanding game on Steam and I doubt that my PC is broke. The developers need to learn to fix the issue rather than being aggressive at their customers. I'll be getting a refund.
