A third is detective work transcending to sentience.
A third is both an emotional and literal escape from abusive humans.
A third is journeying through anarchy to obtain identity.

If any of these sound appealing to you, you'll like the others, even if you think only one is in your taste.

Also, the main menu character talks to you.

It may seem expensive but it's worth the buck.

Free weekend:
I've played this on PS4 and PC through my PS+ game of the month thing.
And on PC through free weekends. It's a lovely game, has it's ups and downs like anything would.
Most importantly, this game fits the "must have" genre that of which sits in your Steam library.

Ergo, if you like survival horror with co-operative gameplay in an objective based hunt then buy this game.
They have an RNG skill tree you get to upgrade that changes every time you unlock everything in a level of the tree.

And on PC you get Bill from L4D as a free character to play as.

On PS4 it's just a pro if you wanna laze in your bed and play on a big screen.

My friend and I partook in a very extensive and stressful game of /flip in Steam chat, I lost but he prided my effort and rewarded it handsomely, for those wondering how I got the game. :^)
-
TL;DR - Game is good, horror themes, puzzle action, elements of life sim gameplay (drinking at a bar, texting, walking around a bar, washing your face in the rest room, talking to people)
-
So, Catherine. Finally here huh? Been like what..? Maybe 11 years since your release on the 360?
Assuming Catherine: Full Body, the "remake" (remaster with more content such as a third love interest), only makes it to Japan, we've got this remarkable copy on PC to enjoy. And if it comes to the west on PC a month after this came out, well damn, Atlus screwed us over. But hey, I'm not complaining, I am part of the huge percent of players that play this who want it purely because it's an amazing addition to your Steam library (nostalgia n that).

To put it short and simple:
Catherine is a horror themed action puzzle game that pressures you into climbing 3d blocks, with the camera positioned in a 2.5D angle (you can rotate it but not to a 360 degree extent). As you climb, the bottom of the level will crumble and blocks will start to fall. It has bosses, a phenomenal score (soundtrack) and thrives in difficulty.

It is the Dark Souls of puzzle gaming.
The art style is similar to that of Persona's franchise, which I know many of you love and probably hope will come to PC because of this being ported over.

ANYWAY!

If you enjoy the following:
- Horror themes
- Minor jumpscares (these are easily avoidable, just don't wash your face every night in the bar's bathroom)
- Creepy bosses
- Epic music
- The thrill of fear/slight stress
- Troy Baker (he voice acts the main character, Vincent Brooks)
- An addictive concept
- Alcoholic trivia
- Character development
- Morale meter-driven lore
- Love interests

Then grab this game.
What're you waiting for? A sale? It's only 14.99.
If you're reading this, then you probably either WANT it or are planning on GETTING it.
So do it. If you meet the above criteria of expections then this is definitely something you will want to have.

100th review. Lets go boys.

BTW: To get the DLC gald and level up items, as well as a set of free costumes, you have to download them on Steam, scroll down on the Vesperia product page (it's above the reviews) to find the "adventurer pack" and the additional "costume pack".

As for the rest of the costumes, if you go in-game to your items screen you will find the "bonus titles" there, which are purely cosmetic (as are most titles in this game, they don't really do much to your stats if anything at all).
You can't use the bonus title items for a respective party member unless you have them in your party (so you need to progress the game), such as Flynn.

This game is phenomenal, the port is phenomenal.
Anyone who says it isn't, does not have a good PC so please ignore them.

I have everything maxed out on a 60hz 1920x1080p monitor.
My specs are:
ASUS NVIDIA GTX 970
Intel i5 Core 4690k @ 3.5 GHz
Gold Cert. 750w PSU
x2 4GB (8GB in total) HYPER-X RAM
Gigabyte z973-dp single atx motherboard

No stuttering, no frame drops, no lagging, nothing bad has happened when I first played at launch time.
I even streamed the whole thing, and there were no problems, no desync/input delay, the gameplay isn't slower because I was streaming on OBS, it was all fine and dandy.

If you'd like to make a first impression on the game, check out this video. You don't have to watch all of it, but it starts off outside of Yuri's house and ends at Ehmead Hill.

Definitely the best Tales game ever made imo, and the primary mothership title of the "Tales of" franchise.

EDIT: The story itself is great and has quite a handful of plot twists!
I would suggest playing the game to experience it first hand, as people have a tendency to give you extra details that spoil segments of the character development and narrative itself. There's a load of side quests too which have a lot of dialogue.

To finalize this review:

If you can afford it, and you want it, then buy it, it'll make you happy and you'll get your money's worth. :)

-- INTRODUCTION: --

Pay little attention to the negative reviews of this game.

My opinion based on my experience with the game:

Whilst the servers can be a tad bad, they do improve for me - rather quickly.
I find myself connecting to an NA server with no or if my connection is bad, then only a little delay at most.
I'm able to play with my friends happily, from either the USA or the UK (I cannot speak for Asian servers because I do not have friends in Asia nor play on Asian servers).

Though, I can say that I am auto selected on "ASIA" servers upon attempting to matchmake, so I have to always change to either EU or NA, I usually go to NA though because they all speak English (or most anyway, I see lots of EUs going to NA servers from experience in duos etc.).

-- Pros: --

- Customization: You can unlock clothing items through "crates" which change periodically, you can either pay for these crates (right now, survivor crates are around the 50-70 pence mark (£0.50-£0.70p), per crate), or you can pay for the clothing items individually. Some are cheap, a lot of the great ones are very pricy. Ranging from £10 to £50 or more. You can also get crates in game through BP (I believe BP stands for Battle Points, or Battleground Points), you can earn BP by playing the game and getting kills or just getting a singular kill and winning at the end. You don't even have to get kills or win to be honest, but the more you do in each game, the more BP you rack up in each game.

- Leniency: This is kind of part of 'customization'. I want to mention the recreational experience this game allows its players to have. We're able to just pay for crates with real money or outfits/clothing items, such as fingerless gloves instead of having to grind our butts day in and day out for more BP, this is good because it is PURELY and I mean PURELY for cosmetic appeal. For people like me who attend college full time or people who work a lot, attend university or elsewise do something that keeps them very occupied in their day-to-day life, this allows them to enjoy the game like everyone else and have the ability to fast track cosmetics.

- Loot: Looting houses is very fun. It can be tedious when all you find are shotguns or pistols or melee weapons but hey, to each and their own. I enjoy finding different shotguns and using them. My favorite is the pump action shotgun that gives you five shells per mag.

- The "play area" system: I know a lot of people will probably hate me and maybe even downvote my Steam review for this, however; the game is very flexible with its play area system. If you are found to be outside of the blue barrier when it closes in to sections of the map (the play area and blue barrier are both different and the blue barrier appears as a circle on the map, wheras the play area appears as a white one), a similar thing to Battlefield happens when you run outside of the battlefield, you pretty much slowly lose your health.

And that system is good, why? It prevents longterm camping. The map is HUGE. And I mean H U G E. So camping really isn't something you want.

-- MISCELLANEOUS: --

- Apparent OP weapon: Apparently the Kar98k is the most OP firearm in the game right now, but I don't care for that and have no problem killing people at long distance with an M16. It just takes practice at most.

-- CONS: --

- The stuttering/freezing for the start of the game session. I hate it, I really really REALLY hate it. But it goes away. And most of the time it rarely happens throughout my gameplay.

- The textures of buildings not rendering fast enough. Why load me in if the map isn't even loaded? The textures end up looking like deformed paintings of structures lmao. It's not fun having to wait anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes maximum at the start of a game just to enter a house, because if I try to I end up hovering whilst jiggling up and down and everything stutters.

- The posed "infinite loading screen": It's not really infinite, but it sure as hell feels like it. There's not a moment that goes by that I don't wish I could just press 'PLAY', as it says on the menu, once I've selected my server that is, and just load in, then enjoy the game. I (a lot of the time) have to go through the 10 second to 10 minutes loading screen, on average it's been about less than 2, maybe 2 and a half minutes. But it's still so ridiculous.

- Limited weaponary: I don't know what the devs are doing to update the game but it seems whatever they're doing, for a map this big, we're limited on a lot of things, but weaponary is the biggest.

- Hitboxes: Apparently the male and female hitboxes are the same? Despite the female player models being way thinner, which kinda sucks to be honest.

- Having to play on some of the lowest settings in the game even though I have a cleanly looked after; ASUS GTX 970 GPU and Intel i5 Core 4690k 3.5GHz CPU.

-- MY PC SPECS: --

CPU: Intel i5 Core 4690k 3.5Ghz.
GPU: ASUS STRIX NVIDIA GTX 970.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3.
RAM: Two, HYPERX 4GB RAM sticks.
MISC: Two NZXT CPU fans, one "be quiet!" cpu fan and an NZXT Single Tower case.
HDD(s):
Primary - Samsung EVO 256GB SSD.
Secondary - 2TB HDD.

-- CONCLUSION: --

But why do I recommend this game after the negatives?

Because every game has its flaws.

I love ARK Survival Evolved and its £49.99p with developers who don't care about optimization but care about releasing the game on consoles.
I love TEKKEN 7 and it's still the base AAA price with developers who added barely any content to the game when they made it, with little replayability (being the online mode), that gets very repetitive and boring/dull.
I love Comedy Night even though there are genuine trash-level memers on there.

I could name a load more but I'll just go with those examples. Please, if you want this game and you love the aspect of it, just give it a try man.

The off-Steam prices for the STEAM game key isn't much different than Steam's price. Just get it off of Steam and then if you don't like it, refund it. It takes three games to give you the experience. Solo, Duos and Squad. (There's also FFP which I think is forced first person but I'm not sure).

I took a lot of my time to make this so please be honest with your votes :) thank you! And hopefully I've helped you decide what you want to do. If not, feel free to add me and I'll help you out with a good decision based on your money's worth. Cheers.

Only good thing about this game is the port, graphics quality and customization & loadouts.

Everything else is garbage lol.
Also why do I have to press the start button on my 360 controller to access options on the main menu when the rest of the options are already there? It's pointless pressing the start button on a main menu lol

Melee animations are weak.
It takes ages for you to kill someone with a machete.
The hair in this game looks really bad.
There is a lot of customization but the grind is really not worth it.
I played one match and that was enough to pull me out.

There was under 370 people online in the EU servers (as of night time in the UK).

I joined the Discord server and there was only about 11 "Xaviants" and 2 Moderators.

Nobody cares about this game and I don't blame them.

I was yanking my t-shirt by the collar whilst eagerly waiting for this game to be released.. due to.. obvious reasons (Ubisoft has made terrible ports for PC before).

As soon as I played WD2, it felt so god-dang smooth and they really did add a lot of detail into the settings of this game.

If you wanna buy it, I say you should. It's a new game, it's something you're probably interested in and it's not half bad! I'm enjoying myself so much. :') The characters are fun, the invasion modes are fun, co-op is fun (I don't think story co-op is a thing but you can basically explore the map and do mini missions or just hang out there's quite a bit to do though, it is indeed seamless).

Pros:

- Great Audio
- Great Dialogue
- Great gameplay mechanics
- Great animations (those freakin' parkour animations man!)
- Great story (so far)
- Very fun (subjective, but heck, I'm sure the 99% of WD2 consumers would agree!)
- Fast travelling.. MMMMM YES MY BEAUTIFUL FAST TRAVEL FRIEND! <3
- A male black character that DOESN'T get seen as a crook when he walks around, but rather a stud (in the eyes of civillians since they're very friendly 'n stuff!)

CONS:

- There's just "master volume" settings for audio? You can't turn down either SFX, Voice or music specifically.. not that I've seen anyway. But heck, I could be blind. Prooooooooobably not though. So yeah, no specific audio volume settings >;c

- Although the world itself is very live (there's a lot going on and it's LIT AF), along with there being a ton of stuff to do; personally I think there's not enough dialogue with the main crew unless you're interacting with an OP or they let you know about a new OP, like no random chats here n there.. but that's just me I guess, to each & their own. Some people would like more dialogue among the crew outside of ops, others might not. This is more of a PERSONAL CON. :~)

- When I was listening to an audio file with the subtitles on, reading it meanwhile; the text looked like it switched to the next sentence a bit too fast, but that's a very tiny thing that's just happened to me once sooo. A slight con, but nothing too extravagant.

---

CAN I ALSO PLEASE JUST SAY THAT WD2'S ONLINE SERVER STABILITY IS SUPERB

TL;DR - If you want the game, get it. Seriously, don't stop. I know there's sales, how do you think I feel? I had £40 and just bought one big game than buy many games on sale. But it's soooo worth it. And it's a very unique & fun title that you will never get bored of. If you're not sure, or you can't afford it but might take the risk to get it anyway, do it if you can and you're sure you can afford to pay for it, if you can't, you can wait a little bit. I'm sure Ubisoft will patch anything I haven't mentioned here so when you get on the WD2 hype train you can have an even smoother experience than it already is ;)

**Even though I received it for free, others have to pay for.... THIS.**

What is "THIS"? Well this is a game that only improved in two aspects from going through the entirety of the prologue:

- Color
- Improved text

The graphical settings aren't a problem, I run both games on maximum settings, but unlike the 2011 Skyrim, I get screen tearing with this game despite running both games on aforementioned maximum settings with graphical mods and an ENB on the original (which by the way, looks better than this).

The only thing(s) I'm excited for (if anything) are when/if/how the modders take advantage of this newly polished version of Skyrim.

So until then, if you haven't ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the game already; lay off of it for a bit.
Keep your wallet/purse warm and cosy, it's not worth the buy in its current state.

Additional crash related information:

Might I add that it also crashed when I clicked the 'A' button to enter a building with the imperial. And it had nothing to do with my PC. (my gpu & cpu: gtx 970, intel i5 core 4690k @3.5ghz).

Additional modding information:

SKSE:SE is fundamental to run a vast majority of mods, and if not released already or soon, this gives you more reason to lay off of the remaster. SkyUI is fundamental for a lot of mods too. Such as HUD mods. Mods will have to be made again and published again, not every modder received early access to the new 64 bit Skyrim's creation kit, those who do will have mods out quicker though, and they're being added to Bethesda's site, but nexusmods already has a section for the new Skyrim remaster so if you'd want mods for this game, then I personally suggest that you go on nexusmods and use the nexus mod manager or mod organizer to download mods.

Look at how many mods that the Skyrim community has racked up over the years on the original Skyrim.. It'll take a long time for half as many of those mods to come back. Mods aren't easy to make.

Less PC graphical settings than the original version.
But.. hey, at least they didn't f*ck us over like Sean Murray did, with No Man's Sky being a pile of trash and all.

This really does live up to Irrational Games' developmental company name, though. I will say that much. And shame on you 2K as well. Lord Gaben is not happy. /disgust
