I... umm... actually agree with what the final boss said. Can we go home now and just let him save the world? lol

The part I liked most in this title is its main characters. It's like they turned up the character trope multiplier by a few points, but still they bounce off each other pretty well. The main character is quite likable, have clear principles he follows, and is responsible. That's top-tier JRPG protagonist material right here.

A lot of missables. Consult a guide would be a good idea for this title.

Overall, Tales of Vesperia is a fairly slow-burn title, both story-wise and mechanic-wise. Early-game combat is terrible, but late-game combat is fairly involved and pretty fun. And story-wise it is actually a trilogy packaged into one game! The story itself is very shounen manga style. Standard cliche JRPG things. The plot of the final story arc is a bit weak though.

Early combat is sh1t. Combat controls are awful, extremely long recovery animations, most of them give you no window to maneuver. Nothing like the earlier games such as Tales of Phantasia. Do not buy this.

Big fan of the Tales of series, and although Vesperia isn't my favorite one I would call it the best one.
Characters and story are very good and combat is fun and fluid. I would recommend this one if you are trying to get into the franchise. This game goes on sale pretty often too so look out for a sale.

I will say this version does have some problems with the new scenes they added on however. New scenes with the main character use a different VA and it can be off putting to hear the VA change for some scenes. New scenes also have terrible audio quality and bad volume mixing as well.

I love the English cast but you might consider using the JP voices for this entry if you don't want to experience those problems listed above.
