Perfect puzzle game

*This game is a very mixed bag, on one side there are fluid controls,
beautiful pixel art, amazing music and many collectibles and secrets.

*The game at time looks a lot like axiom verge and anodyne
(especially in how the world map looks and feels).

Platforming in this game is pretty awesome - you unlock a bunch of different moves that let you traverse around places you couldn't before and all of them feel really nice to use and control - for what it is and how small the team is they did a great job.

but on the other hand is a very tiring combat system, where all of the enemies suffer from too much HP, making it so half of the time you spend on the game will be waiting for the enemies to die while you sweep the floor with them - very slowly.

There's a ton of different skills and upgrade that are mostly unique and interesting, but many of the spells provided feel useless or just really really weak.

Personally I felt like the game was very easy and I didn't really have any trouble beating it on hard, so I would recommend playing it on the highest difficulty(Which can be unlocked via a secret code)

Overall I'd say this is worth a shot for people who love metroidvanias for the price it's asking

Katana ZERO: Now in 3D!

Hi-FI RUSH combines the aspects of classic combo-based combat games with groovy beats, which forces you to understand the game's combos and different moves available to you and does so in a really good way where every other hit you land makes you feel like an actual freakin' rockstar - featuring a cast of wacky saturday morning cartoon cast of characters that actually make funny jokes - 9/10 buy it right now.

DO NOT BUY THE GAME IF YOU ARE ON WIN11

The game itself is an enjoyable take on the Fps genre and the story is interesting, but the live action episodes are bugged on windows 11 and the only fix is to temporarily set the framerate cap to 30 while watching the episodes.

With no live action episodes you are missing half of the content in the game.

PROS:

- Environments are beautiful
- Great music
- Lore faithful
- Lots of maps
- Combat from vermintide 1 & 2 is expanded upon with a greater ranged aspect.
- Makes you feel like a badass when the game wants to.

CONS:

- Lack of greater class variations

- Progression is lackluster and provides no incentive to keep playing after maxing out your first character

- Game locks your endgame 'progression' behind a time-gated shop so you have to wait almost an hour for items to refresh (keep in mind most of the times you won't get the items you want)

- Most cosmetic items are gated behind a paywall with no way to earn the special currency needed to buy said cosmetics.

- Lack Game modifiers makes map variety rotation terrible because most of the time you'd get the same 2-3 modifiers that make the game more frustrating than fun to play (I'm looking at you dawgs) and any time you'd get a map you want to play it'd have some terrible modifier.

- Weekly task system will practically be your second full-time job with most of the missions being related to getting collectibles hidden in maps, usually I love collectibles (had a great time with them in vermintide 2) but in this game the weekly tasks make it daunting since they expect you to get so many for so little reward.

- Practically no story

- Game is still ridden with bugs and performance issues (it has gotten a bit better since release)


I still believe they can make the game playable to some degree :') ,
and from what they've said they plan on making many changes to the things i've mentioned so I hope I can change this review to a positive one in the future

Every single thing about this game makes it so you feel someone just robbed you blind and cheated you whilst coming at you from behind and throwing a 2 gallon bucket of trash over your face
