Absolute masterpiece of a game - it's like if Resident Evil was made with a much more serious tone and with cosmic/lovecraftian horror instead of zombies. Highly highly recommend. I hope it becomes a series... I would love to dig more into the lore!

This game is outstanding! I was looking for another RPG to scratch the BG3 itch and had this one in my library forever.... I wish it had played it way sooner. Amazing writing from Obsidian, lots of content and side quests and very fun "pause" combat that had a surprising amount of depth to it. Highly recommend.

This game is a testament to how remakes should be done. It is a love letter to RE fans, with plenty of fan service and easter eggs to go around. From the moment you step into the gas station you are immersed - environments are dark but incredibly atmospheric, with tons of detail. The sound quality is awesome, with slight creaks and shifts in the police station walls making things incredibly tense. Graphically this game is beautiful, especially in terms of lighting and reflections. The gameplay is perfectly balanced (as all things should be), and i found the normal difficulty to be just difficult enough, where you had to stategize in terms of when to fight or flee, as ammo and healing items were just scarce enough, and there were perfectly long stretches where the game wouldn't provide you with any such resources and you had to be extra careful. This is where the game truly shone for me. I would highly recommend it to RE veterans and newcomers alike, and I'm super excited to play the dlc (free, which is really cool of CAPCOM). Highly recommend.

I just finished my first playthrough of this game, and I'm sure I will happily do another one in the near future. It is easily one of the best games I have played in a long time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a fan of MetroidVania games. The controls are tight, allowing for fun and fast paced action and platforming. I think the game is a perfect level of challenging - most of the bosses are fairly tough, but not too punishing that you want to quit the game. Additionally, some bosses have multiple iterations, adding on further challenge if you want to give them a second go. This game really encourages you to explore, as you will often be rewarded with added abilities or at least further backstory if you stray off the beaten path. The story is pretty interesting, but without their being too much exposition - there are hardly ever any cutscenes, and most story is told to you via hidden stone tablets. My only complaint about this is that the backstory can be kind of cryptic if you don't go online and read the wiki, or at least it was for me. In terms of environment, i really loved the artwork - there was a general sense of gloom and loneliness in the game world, but at the perfect times the music (the soundtrack is awesome btw) would shift or a character would come along in just a way that would put a smile on your face. For the price point of only 15 dollars and the overflowing amount of content (along with the 3 dlcs out and at least one planned) it would be dumb not to at least give this game a chance.
