while other game developers having life choice crisis and gone insult spree meltdown over how "Gamers ™ ® ©" does not care about graphics, or UI designs, quests designs etc.

Meanwhile Vampire survivors simply using generation old simple yet most effective and maybe most perfected recipe ever in gaming history.

"kill, loot, repeat" but on the basis of randomisation. which is cherry on top of the already perfect recipe.

overall this game reminded me what it was missing in today's AAA gaming standards and why i did fall in love with video games at the very start. Gaming was fun when the focus was the have fun, now we all "playing" a job in a video game makeup.
thankfully we get gold mines like like Vampire Survivors time to time, that remind us/me what was gaming before they all went "corpo"

too floaty for FPS genre and too FPS for to be RPG. even fallout 4 hasn't have this much identity crysis.

this game had battle royale mode that they taken out of game, was actually fun.

Bethesda known with their bugs, yet this game actually suffers so much at performance, even with "high-end" pc's you do get crashes.

servers are 24 players max, mostly disconnects or crashes.

after experiencing some story missions, "end game" is just daily task list. you do kill and do same events over and over again until you hit the cap (yes there is almost every notable stuff, even recipe spawn locations has daily cap) and target is progressing in battlepass.

it feels like they treat this game like its so unloved child, so hollow, so soulless. it's actually sad, what we could have but instead we had this.

they sell subscription alongside with microtransaction shop on top of the you are paying the game itself to play, and there is free (and also bare minimum effort) battlepass that gated behind limited daily missions, if you are somewhat late, your best shot is buying battlepass ranks to get the reward you want, and that makes 4 different monetization

solo play, creative play or "moded" private servers (although those "mods" usually sliders or check boxes that tweaks server settings, they are not actual mods) are pay walled behind monthly subscription service.

As always with all bethesda online service games this one too has "inventory shackle" where you get limited amount inventory space, you constantly trying to fix your weight issues, even stash has weight limit. to fix that once again there is subscription service provides UNLIMITED crafting bag for you.

Just like Elder Scrolls Online without subscription you pretty much struggle %80 of the game with inventory management, it ruins whole experience for you.

all the content updates just feels like this game unless there is gonna be overhaul (most likely not) it is getting to end of the lifeline.

technical issiues aside, wait if you don't wanna struggle like us, early birds.

apparently Open World and Dark Souls recipe did not blend very well, open world made game zone exploring and progression trivial, game being optional combat and ablity to run away in any danger what makes the game pretty watered down on purpose of risk = reward structure of the souls game at the first place.

**everything above said for open world, not dungeons. dungeons has mini bosses at the end, and they are mini dark souls zones that we know and love.

"ok i am out of estus flask charges, and i almost clear the zone, should i risk losing my souls and try to finish the zone without healing or turn back and recharge estus flask and go start again from scratch ? what if there is next bonefire close by should i try to find it? or should i turn back and spend my souls on levels and gear upgrades so i can clear this zone much easier than this run?, but i barely made it this far, resetting zone i might not get this far again.. but the souls are too much to risk ??? what do to.. What to do....?"

↑↑ this was the experience you were getting and you suppose to get from a "souls-like" game ↑↑

AND

↓↓What you get in elden ring is this↓↓

when you clear a "pack" of monsters you rewarded with, health potion charges (i couldnt remember its name in Elden ring same thing as Estus flask) or even better there is dung beatles fixed set location that spawns everytime you reset the zone by bonefire/grace or dying, that gives Estus flask (yeah pretty abusable without needing to reseting the zone to gain multiple full charge of flask uses).

losing souls pretty much has no real consequence, even if you die and lost your souls it can be farmed pretty easily on horse back from "trash mobs" in open areas without facing any difficulty or barriers, which leads to no to zero risks at the end. did you lost your souls ? who cares jump on horse and keep run in circles, you will get it in no time!

yes, game has no difficulty slider, yet elder ring starts on journalist difficulty with all these hand holding to overlevel/outgear options, mini-bosses from dungeons can be stunlocked with summons, spirits(npc summons but in shape of skills) over all "souls-like" become more casual, journalist friendly. Of course your ability to make game harder still in game with not using, summons, spirit calls or even new game + so accomplishments moved from new game to new game+ so to say.

on the lore stuff: Dark souls was thrusting you, it was "penetrating" with feels. Elden Ring is not bad but generic.

my biggest let down was the lore. after sekiro being more bright more shiny more "non-dark" i was hoping for another dark souls like aesthetics grim mood game. i love soo much dark souls universe deep in my heart, Dark souls lore was so unique, even sekiro was great yet with Elden ring we got most standard stock, generic "gather X amount of fragments to become god/king" template.

Another thing i don't know if its yellowy-divine-light-bright theme of the whole game or the writting itself but, Everyone seems so cheerful on everything, like "you are gonna die, hahahahahaha!" everyone in game so positive !? it's so off putting to me. even trees are "hopeful bright yellow", that wasnt what i was hoping from formsoftware.

honestly man i miss soooooo much of the Dark souls's
"Grim, Dark, Depressing, Gothic, Everyone lost their purpose, Everyone left this cursed land, Gods,Lords,Dragons extinct, Everyone else going to be hollow or already hollow and everything going to be dust soon but we cant because Eternal Hourglass of time has expired its sands therefore we are stuck in this purgatory, 'end of the times' yet there is still people trying to do things better, even this helpless times! it almost there is glimmer of hope!" mood/aesthetic/vibe/atmosphere.

after sekiro being somewhat grim but not dark, i was hoping for to Fromsoftware go at their roots and make dark stuff close to dark souls. unfortunately Elden ring not even feels weird in same way that other souls game is, even weirdness become more "western"

for example Onion Knight from Dark Souls was unique and lovable because he was the only one who is cheerful or still naive in the heart, in Elden ring we meet with Elden ring version of the "onion knight" the pot warrior alexander, yet you cannot connect with him other than the looks (he looks pretty awesome tbh) because everyone already pretty friendly towards to you, he is not unique in personalty.

****All lore experience/assumptions are subjective and most likely gonna change furher i progress in game (or wont who knows?)

Someone teach Joel how to use Skype!

Check Official Forums before picking a Server, most of the stuff are being Server Locked, and there is no official language servers, you might end up totally diffrent language server before even seeing chat.

-Founders pack being server-wide instead of account-wide is pretty bad practice.
-gameplay is very solid,
-story ehmm.. story has asian highschool drama series vibes, but overall its not that bad, cringe but not quite.
-some zone/level desings reminded me diablo 3, but in a good way. some examples are
Lost Ark: To the Glorious Wall Quest = Diablo 3: Act 3 Turning the Tide Quest
Lost Ark: Prideholme on Fire Quest = Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls: Westmarch Heights and Urzael fight
Lost Ark: Trixion Zone pretty much Any Heaven zone in Diablo 3
and maybe most obvious one is the; Lost Ark: "Derun" Race (Demon+Human Breed people) = Diablo's Nephalem (Angel + Demon Breed People)

here is some easter egg / cameos too
-Lost ark has npc called Dr.Mari that has white bunny toy, she is inspired from Alice in wonderland and you could even see more parallels at Tortoyk zone enterence with pocket clock, cards that has Hearts card just all from Alice in wonderland story
-there was bug monster 1:1 from Starcraft II infestor/Baneling
-they even put butcher as a boss from diablo
-at shushire there is witcher looking guy white hair and zone filled with white wolves, might be cameo to witcher but i am not sure tbh

Housing seems fine little bit mobile game-ish and little bit farmville mixup but still it is passive gameplay while you do other stuff it just ticks.

They did find middle ground between p2w and only cosmetic shop.

i guess it depends really what do you consider is a "pay to win". game is not "pay to progress" you can achieve anything by playing, or you can make your "money work" and bribe RNG jesus with it, in return you'll save some time and progress faster.

Royal Crystals = Real money currency
Blue Crystals = Over all middle point convertable currency
Gold = Auction house and most of the End Game earnable/Spendable in game currency

it goes like this Royal Crystals>Blue Crystals<Gold

you can earn gold by playing the game and convert that to Blue Crystals to buy stuff from Shop, and also you can spend Real life money to buy shop stuff or convert irl currency to middle point blue crystals.

i don't know any of the songs name yet but Housing one sounds like Valheim's soundtrack, and there is one just starts like skyrim OST but without climax it just goes otherway. overall they fit the atmosphere of the game.

at the end i can see so many hours will be spent on this game 9/10

oh and unlike RU version this one has so little Video Settings you can adjust, it looks more blurry than RU version at 2560x1440 resolution, you get to use to it though its not that bad. and we might get more options in 2 months (since that is when new classes gonna added to game [or not i don't know honestly it might be just rumors, still cannot wait to play summoner when its here.])

we are living in 2022, this game has 2560x1440 resolution in it's settings yet all the game's UI, Texts and whole Menus does not scale up to "1440p", therefore looking at 1080p blurry texts given me headache after 9min. and looking around at internet for solution turn up to be this problem in game for YEARS!, i had do refund whole dlc pack because it is pretty much unplayable. (and no player created mod does not make up for it.)
