i'm not much for leaving reviews but i like this game so i figured i may as well.

the game is great for early access and going off their roadmap it seems to be heading in the right direction. it has its issues, as all early access games do, but at the time of this review the dev team is actively working on the game with a pretty major update coming down the pipeline soon which will introduce quests to the game. hopefully this update will break up the monotony of the current game's base building/loot collecting grind.

however, the community they're building around the game is unfortunately pretty toxic and you hate to see it. their official discord server is filled with people excited about the game but the head discord mod, dera, is an ex-military mp (read - power tripping bully cosplaying as a cop) who is super rude and condescending to pretty much everyone. i'm not sure why the devs chose this person to be the face of their game on their official discord server but here we are.

tl;dr - the game is great so far, if you're cool with bugs and wonky early access growing pains, i recommend it. if you want something polished with a lot of features and things to do, maybe hold off for a while.
don't bother with the official discord server if you're not down to lick some boots.

XCOM meets Game of Thrones, or something. I don't know, it's fun tho.

People seem to be getting hung up on their heros dieing off so quick, but they're missing the point. You have a guy you've leved a bunch and are super into him? Breed the bastard! The game is about bloodlines and breeding badasses to breed more badasses, not individual heros. This is part of the game, this is what you bought. complaining about the mechanic is like buying Battlefeild 1 and complaing that people keep shooting you.
