If for some reason you've ended up reading this review and have no idea what Squad is, it's somewhere between a very hardcore large-scale tactical shooter and a milsim. Teamwork and voice communication with your squad of up to 9 players is an absolute must. Lone wolfing will often get you kicked from squads and even most servers prohibit it. Not being a team player in this game is about one of the most frustrating and boring gaming experiences anyway, as it often involves long, uneventful walks through the forest that end in sudden and unexpected death from who knows where (probably your team knew where if you were communicating with them.) Assuming you're willing to learn and take order from your squad and fireteam leaders, can communicate actively on voice comms, and don't need constant action than Squad will be one of the most immersive games you will ever play. It is pretty well polished with minimal bugs in its current state (the last bug i can remember was about a dozen games ago where one guy's model looked like he was permanently leaning for a bit, but I'd have to go dozens of hours back to find a time where a game breaking bug happened for me.) The gameplay is very solid and pretty well balanced considering the asymmetry between some of the factions. The gunplay is very lethal and precise, with high amounts of recoil. Graphics are not the best, but still portray convincing landscapes and infantry equipment and vehicles have very well detailed models. The sound design is one of the exceptional qualities of Squad.

Well worth the money if you're looking for an immersive hardcore military shooter that isn't as hard to get into as something like Arma 3 but still has decent strategic depth and plenty of replayability. The game is based on community run servers so once you find a good server that's got a good community and is consistently populated, you can keep going back to it. It isn't too hard to find a server that is full of people that are friendly to new players and will help you learn the game. If you are brand new to the game it is often actually a good idea to tell your squad you are new as they'll be more helpful forgiving to mistakes.
