Early Access Review
(Long article, tips, tricks and notes on working around Early access issues I've learned at the bottom)

Flashing Lights, at the time of this review, is still in Early Access. Where it honestly belongs. It has glitches, unreliable Ai, strange texture and lighting appearances and very limited functionality. If you're wondering why I recommend it. It's not hard to figure out. It's a lot of fun.

I'm not a patient person when it comes to dealing with errors, bugs and all around quite a bit of frustration. I'm not the type of person who will give many chances to a piece of software that is imperfect. Unfortunately, this game has me hooked.

Still in it's infancy, Flashing Lights has plenty of potential and a lot going for it already. The gameplay concept is excellent. The cooperative features are strong and in general quite immersive, if, and only if the people you are playing with are willing to play along with each games different vibes and styles.

Games are hosted by a player, and up to 9 others can currently join the game. It's completely drop-in and drop-out style of connecting and switch between Police, Fire or EMS, is well done and fairly simple. Myself I like playing a strong role-play. Using proper 10 codes, signalling my turns and using the lights and sirens properly. The game allows me to do that while other players in the same game can take a little bit more of a relaxed approach.

There's no doubt in my mind that Flashing Lights will only get better in the coming months and possibly years. The developers have an open discord server, which anyone can join. They take suggestions, and feedback on any issues players discover in the game. There's even a channel you can wait to play with a developer. (I haven't attempted this yet). The reason I'm mentioning all of the things related to the developer is because I feel confident that my purchase will not go to waste. Having had a few good conversations with other players, it's obvious that the community is strong and passionate about this game project, as much as the developers are. It's encouraging and frankly, quite nice to see. Something lacking with most of modern day AAA developers and even some indie developers. That passion for their project.

Notes:
-The settings menu for controls, graphics and such do not work well with a triple monitor setup (such as 5760x1080), Start game with a regular 16:9 or similar aspect ratio (1920x1080, 1280x720 etc) to configure all your options.
-Controllers may be a little difficult to setup at first (I use a G27 wheel). Sensitivity takes some time to adjust
how you like it best. (Wheel users, i recommend using 900 degree wheel rotation)
-The most important command to know, if hosting a game, or in single player at the moment is "/m-cancel".
This will allow you to cancel a mission that maybe have glitched or gotten stuck.
-When setting up a game, i recommend using Parked Cars - Medium or even low. I've noticed a large increase in traffic jams with High which causes a lot of other issues such as lag, incomplete missions and Ai tow trucks and EMS getting stuck everywhere.

There are 2 things I feel all players of Flashing Lights should remember, 1: EARLY ACCESS 2: Passionate Developer.
