There are a lot of things that are poorly designed (eg. crafting) or missing (eg. haircuts, car customization), but I'm still having a lot of fun. The sidequests are numerous and offer a range of unique and interesting characters. The gameplay lacks polish in some areas, but combat can be quite fun and varied. I'd recommend this game for anyone looking for a rich, but fairly linear storytelling experience and who won't feel let down by a lack of customization and polish in other areas of the game.

It's almost a shame that more people won't be able to play this, but the experience truly wouldn't be the same without VR. Half-Life: Alyx is a nice reminder that Valve truly does create excellent games. The mechanics, story, humour, writing and atmosphere are all tuned to perfection. Valve makes excellent use of VR as a medium in a way that enhances the gameplay beyond what could have been achieved otherwise.

I originally bought this to play with my girlfriend in big picture mode, but the PC version doesn't support local couch co-op. I was initially frustrated by that, but it's still a great game even just playing on my own. The core gameplay hasn't changed much from the previous titles, but each new instalment seems like a step up from the last in terms of writing and mechanics.

Cryptic, jarring and disjointed; playing this game feels like having a nightmare.

There are times when this game feels like work, and times when it feels like magic. They're just puzzles, but they're puzzles in the way that every interesting programming task is a puzzle. The feature that really takes this game to the next level is the time/space comparisons against other users; sure you've just solved the puzzle, but why did your solution take 15 extra cycles? What optomizations did you miss? If you're anything like me, you'll spend the rest of the night trying to figure it out.

This game has a lot of potential, and provides some wonderful moments. Unfortunately, its many flaws make it a mediocre experience. The ending is abrupt, and largely nonsensical; a real shame given the amount of time it spends building a truly unique world and backstory.

I would recommend it with caveats: it can be beautiful game at times, but be prepared for a few dull minigames, and a disappointing conclusion.

Someone probably put a lot of work into this, but it's just not very good. The art is plain, there's almost no story, the controls are clumsy, and the puzzles aren't clever. The main set of levels are over in about an hour. There are bonus and co-op levels, but I just can't be bothered. Maybe this is someone's first attempt at making a game in Unity, in which case, good for them. As a consumer though, it's not really worth playing.

Game design is one of those things that, when done really well, goes almost unnoticed. Sadly, this is the one area where Edge of Space really fails to deliver. The art isn't bad, the worlds are imaginative, and some aspects of gameplay are actually very fun! Tearing through rock with a high-powered mining lazer feels great. Unfortunately, these high points are all brought down by clumsily implemented features that are frustrating and poorly explained. A lot of things nagged at me during the 12-or-so hours I spent trying to enjoy Edge of Space, but I'll focus on the worst: dungeons.

At a certain point in the game, progression through the tech-tree is halted by materials that can only be obtained from a dungeon. No problem! Except the dungeons are awful. The freedom of your jetpack and mining laser are stripped from you, and you're forced to clumsily hop along through some kind of half-baked platformer full of dark, confusing, repetitive rooms. Exploring the rest of the dungeon after going down a dead-end branch involves slowly backtracking through rooms that are even harder to navigate in reverse. It's so tedious that it's easier to just die so that you can start again from the top. The drop-rate for those materials you need is abysmal to boot. Just terrible all-around.

A hacky PC port of a tired and unimaginative match-three clone for mobile. The gameplay is wholly banal. It doesn't even support mouse controls. The only redeeming factor is the quality of the character models, but you won't see more than 3 of them without breaking the bank on micro-transactions. This game is an expression of disrespect and utter contempt for fans of Disney and Frozen.

Not for the faint of heart. All hacking games inevitably involve an element of 'hollywood', and this game is no exception. Superficially, Hacker Evolution appears pretty authentic; you type unix-like commands into a plain looking terminal and search through server config files for clues on your next target. You might even feel cool doing it. Of course, after playing for a short time you will get a feel for what the core game mechanics are really about. At it's heart, Hacker Evolution is a game about balancing resources: money, open servers, hardware configuration, etc. It's this careful balancing act of resources that makes the game challenging, and unforgiving. A single missed opportunity could lock you into an unwinnable game from which the only recovery is to start again from scratch at the tutorial level. Still, for those who are determined enough to see it through, Hacker Evolution can be a rewarding experience.
