a genuinely fun game that tests your patience and skill, but will be in perpetual development hell for the rest of its existence. the game lacks absolutely any reason for you to survive, and the developers are hellbent on making it stay that way by not adding any real reason to do anything.

you get a weapon, you conga-line every zombie, you get a generator, you get control of a gas station, you farm, and you collect rainwater. that's the entire game. after you set all that up, there's nothing left for you other than self-set goals and friends.

the story is definitely not good. couldn't really tell what was a significant choice and what wasn't in the story. the conclusion of the story is also rather boring. it's a simulation. wow. now I really don't care about grinding for any of the useless items in this game.

the initial liking of how big the game is is really dulled because everything is the same. mono-biome planets with the same weird animals and plants. you enjoy this "diversity" initially but travelling to many places eventually just makes all planets mesh together and you stop caring about exploring and scenery and just focus on a task you give to yourself. you can easily change this game's difficulty, which I find really stupid because it has online elements. also, for some godforsaken reason, the weather is clientside-- meaning that all other people you're playing with will not see the weather you see.

overall, it feels like an incredibly shallow star citizen.

and man, whoever designed the FOV in this game needs to be fired. it's heinously low and reflects in Light No Fire.

there seems to be absolutely no reason to do anything in this game. why get a better ship? why get a better multitool? why even explore? the game literally raises the question of any of your exploration being valuable and really makes me wonder as a player why I spent money on a game that seems to want to have a story dictated by me and not itself.

outside of that tangent, I decided not to reset the world to see what'd happen. hilariously, nothing happens. I really didn't expect the game to literally have me make the choice that nothing happens. I didn't have a save previous to that choice, so I'm stuck with what I chose to do (even though the mission description says that I can meet with Atlas again to make that choice again).
