I've been playing exclusively solo, and I've had a great time with it. There are still some things Gearbox needs to work on in the way of weapon balance. I think they took "pistols are useless" feedback from Borderlands 2 and focused on making pistols more useful, but at the cost of making other weapons less useful (I've personally found rocket launchers and sniper rifles to be utterly useless). Overall, I feel like they looked at their previous games and did a good job picking out and combining the things that worked well in all of them.
