This is one of the worse games from WI and I've played a bunch of them. It is shot nicely but it is super slow. Playing it is like trying to prod a slug through a football field. Every other animation has intro, the actual thing happening and then outro. Kinda like you would expect in an FMV game. Except the intros and outros are super long.

That said, the game is predicated on repeating the same bits and endlessly retrying different things to get different branches and endings. That makes it stand out but it also makes me feel like I am wasting time playing, because of how long it takes to get the new bit of the story.

The best thing is the production value - light, camera etc. For an FMV game it looks nice and some of the actors are quite good.

The script is horrible though. The problem is that you are meant to play several times so the first time you are trying to figure out what is going on and it doesn't make sense, which is fine. Second time everything makes sense already but it does not make sense in context - why the characters say what they say and act how they act seems out of place. Once you break the mystery, which is the first playthrough, it just becomes completely tedious.

After getting a second and third ending I figured out that there is a problem with consistency, where some of the information does not match. You could either have a game that has different settings in different playtroughs or same setting in different ones. Here it looks like it's the same, except sometimes it is not.

What made me quit, uninstall and never play again is the pointless 4 door section that takes forever to play, where 'gameplay' is watching the main character walking through doors back and forth in absolutely attrocious pace, which only highlights how SLOW the game is.

I know the WI games are trying to be deeper than they are but I would take the naivite of something like Poe and Munro over this game, that tries to pass a plot with a message instead of having a theme and sticking to it.

I struggled to care about any of the characters - playing this game made me identify with the archivist the most.

Play Shapeshifting detective instead - it's a similar theme done better.
