Early Access Review
This is an original game; it is packed with smart game mechanics and details. They have found good ways to tweak the game so that it feels balanced and with purpose. I was so surprised how much content is in this game, the game world is procedurally generated and feels alive, but there is also so many recipes and budling materials that you can unlock. When you build your house, you have to think about things like where the smoke from your fire will go (so you dont suffocate), its great!

If you use a controller then you should know that all in-game actions are possible to do without keyboard, but it may not be so obvious. RT+A splits a stack in your inventory, LT+A drops the item to the ground.

Its a truly unique game. I felt like I got an experience with this game that I have not seen in other games. It may not be for everyone, but if you like entertainment that has mysteries, surrealism and that makes you wonder what is "real" then this may be for you. I think people that likes the TV series "Twin Peaks" and/or are fascinated by dreams and afterlife would like this. This is the kind of game that you can just jump into without doing any research, and you don't need to worry about making mistakes, just work with whatever happens. This game has a creepy vibe, but I have not come across any jump scares. I would say this is intended for an adult audience.
I have played for about 10 hours when writing this and I really like it.

There is however a few things I would like to see improved. 1. since I am playing with a controller I realized that it was easy to mistake what option was selected when you are in dialogues. This is because all the text is white except the unselected options. I always assumed the orange was the selected option (since it stands out) so In the beginning I was quite confused and still now I find myself selecting the wrong option, I wish they could make this more clear or make an option for those of us that struggle with that, as I still find myself selecting the wrong one from time to time. 2. I find it a bit hard to navigate the city, I don't mind a challenge but I find myself have to open the map to see if I have arrived at a POI, its a bit tricky to pinpoint where the hovering icon is. I prefer a type of compass that you see in other games (e.g. Skyrim, but without the floating icons). I am however okay with holding down the button to see it. I can live with this tho, its just makes me open the map more than I would like.

Other than that I really recommend this game and I wish more people would give it a try.

I played the game during the free weekend, and now I bought it. I have played this with my wife by setting up a dedicated server on one of the computers (to avoid the tethering), and it works well without any lag. We play with Xbox controllers. It took us some time to get into it, at first we did not like it that much, we did not really see the purpose. But then we build a house and started collecting resources and things were looking better.

There were a few weird bugs, such as when you type in the text boxes when searching for servers if you remove the last character you typed and add a new one it will still show the old character. So I typed 193 and tried to change the 3 to 4 it will still display 3 until you type more. None of the bugs I encountered was game-breaking, they were just annoying.

The thing I like the most about the game is the follower mechanics, looking for the best followers, capture them, training them, feed them, and give them equipment is quite fun. They can also die on you so that makes it feel more rewarding. I think this gives the game meaning and makes it feel less lonely. Base building is also cool, but you see that in other games. I wish they had boats in this game, we build our house by the river and it would be nice to be able to travel up and down the river with a boat. It probably would take more time than swimming, but it would be more immersive.

They have room for improvement when it comes to usability, especially when you use a controller. You have a radial menu as your "Hotbar", but adding or replacing things on that is not very user friendly. To equip something to this you have to go into your inventory select the item you want, bring up the radial menu, select the place you want to place it, Click the place button (A on the controller). then you need to exit the inventory and bring up the radial menu and select it to equip it. This is not too bad, but if you try to replace the item in your radial menu with a new item you need to make sure it is not equipped. Because if it is you need to exit the inventory, select something else and then do it all again. If you have a touch equipped, it should allow you to equip something else in that slot without unequipping the touch first. I think its also unnecessary that you are required to click a button after selecting the radial menu slot. This action can be made much simpler. I think it should also be possible to place objects from the inventory without having to assign them to the radial menu. When you only need to place one object of something, such as a workbench, you still need to do all the steps to get it to be placed in the world, and then you need to reassigned whatever you used to have in that slot before. If it instead could click a button when having the item selected in the inventory and then it brings you directly to the build mode then that would be better.

But overall we like it, it runs well, looks good and its fun when you are a few hours in and are used to the interface.

At first this game was quite okay, I thought it was quite easy but figured it was just the beginning. But it turns out that it does not really get any harder. It does not matter what combination you do, if you spam a few buttons you will be fine. The quests are quite okay, but I did notice that some was lacking some polish (E.g. In Riften).

I would come back to it if they made it harder. I’m not referring to more button smashing, but making the combat so that you have to be more strategic about what you use. I really doubt they would to such a big change, so for me this is not recommended.

Me and my wife has played this game in split screen and it’s a lot of fun. I wish there was a harder difficulty as it becomes a bit easy after a while. Keep the DLC’s coming.

I played Skyrim from day 1 and I still played a heavily modded version until the end. Many of the things they have fixed in this version could not be fixed with mods in the normal version. Sure, there was some mods that improved on the issues but many were never solved and other solutions required lots of tweaking and could make your game unstable.

For instance:
- They fixed the flickering snow in the mountains. This could not be fixed with mods.
- Alt-tab actually works: Could not be fixed with mods.
- 64bit support: Could obviously not be added with mods. This opens up many doors for mods.
- Shadows looks great out of the box: You could fix this with ENB but it was a hassle and did not look and perform as well as it does now.
- Antialiasing is a lot better: I was never satisfied with the old even with Enb, it would pretty much always be sharp flickering edges and at the same time too blurry. This is so much better now.
- View distance is much better, most noticeable the LOD and foliage. This could be improved with mods, but the old engine never allowed the same performance as what we have now.
- Less stuttering
- Less chances of your save games getting corrupt.
- Better visuals; lighting, god rays etc.

In other words most changes are “under the hood”, and may not be that apparent at first. However, I assure you that we will benefit from them.

Sure, I get that people would have wanted more content - I would as well. However, do not forget that after all these years no other game could compete with Skyrim – Sorry Witcher fans. I think it is important that we do not forget that the reason we are disappointed is that they put the bar high, not because we do not like the game.

I really hope they change their minds and consider making more expansions for Skyrim.
If you got this game free then you have nothing to complain about. If you do not own it, then you should buy it. It is better than any other games out there, and cheaper than most.

There is some bad reviews out there about this game, but notice that some of them have 1000+ hours, so obviously it is not that bad (seriously 1000+ hours and you give it a bad review? C’mon). What people do not like about this game is not really about the game itself but rather the sales strategy of paradox. The game is great, but they charge allot for expansions.

If you have never played EU4 don’t feel like you need to get all the expansions right away, you can always get them later and they will still work with your current save game. If you like the game you can check the WIKI for what expansions you would like, you should also wait for a sale before you get them, they usually put the previous expansions on sale when they are releasing a new one. Note that its only the expansions that changes the gameplay the content packs only offers new models, and you can get excellent music pack for free at the workshop.

This is a really great but it’s not for everyone, it could be quite a challenge, but then again it’s also more rewarding. You will probably learn some geography and history from this game, and you will have fun doing it.

I started a new playthrough as Venice and so far I have been enjoying the new features allot. I feel like I have more tools available to change the world and the power balance then before. By forming a tradeleauge you offer all the small 1-state nations a way to protect themselves so that they don’t get that easily eaten up by your enemies. At the same time you have the option to rent out your armies to sway the ongoing wars in the directions you are comfortable with, but without getting directly involved. The new spy network system also works very well and feel allot more immersive. I am yet to try out the map sharing stuff but I imagine it to be a welcoming change, now you don’t have to invest in exploring if someone else already have done this for you.

I also bought Cossacks at the same time so I don’t know if this is a feature of Mare Nostrum, Cossacks or the patch, but I also like the fact that I can now recruit new soldiers from the army itself.

Many more things are good with this expansion (and patch). I really think they did a good job on this and you get a lot for your money on this one. I appreciate that they continue to develop EU4 instead of making a “new game” every year and charging a full price as many other studios does these days. I know some people would think this expansion is a bit pricy, and I do think they should have included the unit packs free of charge, however compared to some of the other expansions for EU4 this one is a great deal in my opinion. When I judge the price of a game or expansion, I base it on how many hours I can (and want too) get out of it. After playing it for hours, I know it will add many more hours of gameplay and keep it interesting and fun. Therefore, in my opinion; the price is justified.
