I have a love/hate relationship with Destiny 2, and I love the lore of this universe. First off, amazing launch, very smooth and no error codes experienced for me. Gameplay is a lot of fun, the Legend Campaign was more challenging and I enjoyed the use of Strand throughout it. Post campaign Strand could use a little work, but I am still enjoying it quite a bit. New activities are fun, I like the mix of objectives and enemy type mix up. Tormentors have been a fun enemy and I am enjoying building around them.

Narratively... this was a misstep. This campaign was a misstep in the worst way. The pacing was all over the place, nothing was adequately explained, tones and themes conflict, and for the expansion that features the Second Collapse and titled 'LIGHTFALL', there has been no consequences, no answers, no setup for Final Shape. I understand even less of what was going on narratively than I did beforehand, and despite this massive stakes and massive consequences narrative, Ghaul did more damage to us as players than The Witness, our ultimate big bad and commander of The Black Fleet. Story focused way too much on Strand, and not enough on the overall narrative to help establish proper groundwork for Final Shape.

Buy the game if you don't care for the story. Gameplay is still good, and Strand is fun at base and likely to be improved. If you're really invested in the narrative, hold off and save money to see if they do better with the upcoming season/season after, the rest of the expansion will still be there in a few month's time.

If you played it on Switch and enjoyed it, you'll still enjoy it in much smoother frames and higher resolution. If you played World/Iceborne and went back to play some of the older titles, it's got a lot of the good bits of both games.

I'm recommending this game entirely on it's concept, and the hope that in the near future it will be fixed. In its current state, I wouldn't recommend the game. The hubworld lag can be managable, but most of the time it's utterly infuriating. Firstly, you've got a 50% chance of coming across an npc who just stands there and takes your hits, or one who reads your mind and unforgivingly unleashes the fury of Hell on you. If you fight more than one enemy at a time it can be a nightmare of pinball-porting around a given area while your health drains away. I had a lot of hope for this game, and while I can't say I'm unsatisfied, I'm really not satisfied either. Here's hoping things get fixed.

Early Access Review
Ignoring the argument as to whether this game is an Overwatch ripoff or not, it's free, it's fun, and therefore for me, it's fantastic. I highly recommend this gam for those of you who like this kind of gameplay.
