Marvel rivals in my honest opinion looks absolutely disgusting. The abysmal graphics and art-style design, with its jagged black lines and mostly Chinese based maps that don't even fit the original comic style, which is weird considering locations like New York, Asgard, or Wakanda for example are not even here. It is obvious that this game company was initially a mobile game company and it shows. This entire game seems to pander specifically towards Chinese government interests and I'm not even looking to be political but it is sapped so deep in it with its soulless design.

The gameplay on the surface seems rather complex. However, when actually playing even just a few matches, you can suddenly realize how shallow and simple the game really is, not much different to Overwatch even though they are different in many ways but within the same genre. Even for a game as already rather simple like Overwatch, where movement and abilities happen with the click of a hotkey, it feels even less rewarding and worse somehow here. The optimization is horrible despite its already bad graphics, additionally it seems like crashing is a major issue, in which case I experienced for the first time ever a crash that resulted in a frozen pixelated screen, having to fully reboot my computer in order to fix it. Never for any game have I experienced something this bad. On top of all this, they have an artificial system in place where when having lost enough matches you will be placed into bot matches unknowingly, which is laughably stupid for a multiplayer-based PVP game.

My biggest concern is its security issues, their NetEase anti-cheat roots itself into the kernel level but is not a reputable one like Easy Anti-Cheat. Personally I am not ever letting programs as suspicious as this run ever on my main system, luckily with Linux and Proton compatibility it can run easily without kernel level access. For Windows users, It is said to run with full system access while playing, however there are so many unknown variables with the way it operates that it's unknown what it could be doing on the device beyond the purposes of regulating against game cheats. NetEase is a Chinese company, under jurisdiction and direct ties to China, a country that operates as a full surveillance state, where companies are required by law to share its data to the government when requested. The game itself also has a lot of censorship in its chat-box, that is in accordance to Chinese policies, such as mentions of "Taiwan", "Winnie The Poo", or "Tiannamen Square".

The act of uninstalling their invasive program already takes a lot of hoops to jump through in order to get it fully removed:
