Game stability is critical for an extraction shooter. When you lose your loot 8 times!!! due to game crashes, its hard to keep playing.

The world is beautiful, the concept approachable, focusing on the stability before adding features would be great.

PUBG was a good concept with terrible execution, the optimisation was horrendus.
I am afraid the cycle is going to that route.

Ryzen 7 3700x, RTX 3080, Win 11, playing on dx12.

Hack orcs, Build army, tear down fort, hack some more orcs.

Super fun.

Another pro tip would be to set the brightness to two levels below your normal setting on the monitor : Game floods your eyes with light and treats you as a flashing test rat. There;s a level where they literally demo their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine on your face. Rapidly cycling through day and night and glitching everything in front of you. ♥♥♥♥ THAT SECTION.

Now to the review , Remedy Games ( creators of max payne , alan wake ) put out a fresh shooter . With a twist in game mechanics. This is a tight and fun to play shooter which lets you play GOD .

Starting with the cons :

- Seizure inducing design choices. There's a section where they show off the day and night cycles and its very ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to navigate. They over did it with the fractures. We get the point your engines pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ robust.

- Poorly Explained mechanics. You have to keep your eyes peeled for the subtle effects.
- FInal Boss fight ( the only one in the game ) is a survival mode type deal for which you just run and shoot enemies. To top this up only 3 of your 6 abilites are useful in the fight.

Neutrals.
- Meh control system . Tested with a kb/m.
- Forced to walk slow sections with in game cutscenes. God you crawl in some sections
- Not enough gun variety . Pistols have no use in game.
- Enough ammo everywhere , you can scout it out with a button.
- Sets up for a sequal. meh storyline .
- Restrictive movement . But this was developed with xbox controller in mind no wonder :P ...

Pros :
- STUNNING visuals ( 1080p almost ultra ~ 80 fps , rx 580 ) and it does really feel like a treat.
- Rewarding combat if done right. You need to manage your abilities and damn it feels great to chain stuf while raining bullets on your enemy .
- Story telling through rewinding time is cool.
- Time layering : just like any time based " thriller " you get to play the same situation multiple times from several perspectives.
- Choice mechanics : the ability to see what happens for each choice in a real time render is great. The choices have lesser impact than actually implied.



Remedy put in a lot of work , but put out the game with less polish than it needed to serve up a medicore third person shooter. Game is fun to play once , if you got it on sale.

Game is slow but very rewarding .
Get the proper edition and the year pass . Dont bother with the cosmetics before you unlock everybody.

I liked it a lot . Leaderboards are hacked though.

One of the legendary games which is still fun to play after 15 years of making .

Proves even without graphics and mechanincs what a game can achive. Those who love multiplayer and have not bought this game ( totally worth it !! ) I recomend you try it out :) ..
