The Forest
The Forest is a dark survival game in a night forest full of monsters. Players get to the island as a result of a plane crash, after which they find out that they are not alone on the island - cannibal tribes live there, which begin to haunt the main character.
Background
The game begins with the fact that you come to your senses after the crash of an airliner, and begin to explore the island in search of your son, who was abducted by local aborigines. In addition to opposing cannibals, the player must also get food and cope with various natural phenomena, build a shelter in which to wait out bad weather and attacks, as well as look for other survivors of the plane crash.
Descent into the cave to the canibals
The dim light of the lighter illuminates the path only a couple of meters ahead. You walk and walk through the labyrinths, shuddering at every rustle and sound of drops falling on the floor. Squeeze through a narrow gap, slide down the climbing rope tens of meters with a sinking heart - and get ambushed. Frantically chop several creatures with an axe, and then burn their remains at the stake to make bone armor, and again descend the rope into the darkness. To where six-legged monsters, sewn from someone's bodies, roam...
You also have to look for equipment to open new locations and move along the plot. For example, you can't swim flooded tunnels without scuba gear, dynamite will be needed to clear collapsed corridors, and in some areas you can't climb without an ice axe. And even the simple crafting system is felt in a new way at such moments: they opened a backpack, and with the help of wood resin they attached the knocked-out teeth of a cannibal to a club — and got a completely good weapon. They skinned a fat mutant who had just been killed — wrapped the skin on his hands as additional armor.
Pros and cons
Positive:
interesting plot
the atmosphere
in general is not bad graphics
visual crafting system
Cons:
the modest size of the game world
is more interesting to explore caves than to wander through an empty forest
rare bugs like animals flying into the sky
Results
Do you want to immerse yourself in a game that is shocking not only with nudity and open bellies, but also with provocative themes like infanticide and the fine line separating man from beast? The Forest will not disappoint.
