Digital gambling exists to prey off children who don't know any better and those with mental illnesses or addictive personalities, not just rich people. The companions update could easily have been an addition to the gem shop using the preexisting freemium currency where you could buy each pet individually, but Lava chose to implement it in gacha format. Whales would still have paid $300 for Doot regardless, but more addiction = more profit so that's what was added.

In his most recent statement the dev has doubled down, saying quote: "[you] are likely only here because of similar updates I've made in the past", but no other IdleOn MTX has ever asked me to gamble real $ to access content.

Until we are given the option to circumvent the gacha, or the gacha is removed entirely, this review will stay negative.
