Honestly I wasn't expecting much at all. I enjoyed the first game for what it was at the time and was hoping to have a bit more closure on the story. That said, I played the game for the story and not necessarily the mechanices that other people seem to be critical of. I guess that might be why I feel less negative about the game overall.

Also, don't buy the game full price; or do! Who am I to tell you what to do - but, I got this on a Humble Bundle so did not pay near full price. I'd suggest picking this up on steam sale, or where ever, if you're feeling unsure about it. It's a great game for what it is, so I think even near full price it's probably worth it.

There's a need for games that are offline solo experiences that provide a rich but uncomplicated experience. Unlike other games it it's genre there doesn't seem to be an unnecessary amount of grinding. I think the other key is having an experience that doesn't take too long to complete - not too long, not too short. Homefront: the revolution definitely hit that mark for me.

Having completed the game once through so far I can say it has some replay-ability to it. Increasing difficulty will definitely be a must with this one on replays - this may skew ease of progress though. Completing the once through in just under 18 hours felt pretty on par and I'm curious to see how the second one will go!
