- Aesthetics/vibe: What personally drew me to this game is the graphical aesthetics. If you grew up with sprite based isometric games, this will forever tickle your nostalgia bones. It's a 3d isometric game, but the way the environments and such are highly detailed evokes the feeling of prerendered sprites, unlike other modern ARPGs where everything feels smooth and cartoony. Soundtrack is also a banger after banger, although, I wish there were more tracks. Sound effects are great and the combat feels meaty. The overall theme is grimdark but in fantasy Victorian era.

- Gameplay: You probably heard a million times by now if you read any mention of Grim Dawn elsewhere that this is the next best thing if you love Diablo II, but do not like Diablo III or IV. It has the full spirit of old school ARPGs since it is made by passionate people who clearly also loved those games. The dual class and the skill tree look very similar to Titan Quest (since many people who originally worked on that game makes up Crate Entertainment). The Devotion system is another skill tree that gives you a lot of options and can get complex, but not obtuse like Path of Exile. Then, you can further enhance your build with items, attachments, medals, etc. So overall, a multilayered system for you to play around with.
The game is still getting updates and a new expansion is on the way. Again, the devs clearly really care about this game.

- Negatives (nit pick):
- stash is pretty limited, so if you're a hoarder, you have to download a (albeit very simple) 3rd party tool.
- crafting can involve multiple steps. I wish it would automatically craft all the prerequisites instead of requiring to do it all manually which can get very tedious.

- Other: this is a fully offline game. You don't need constant internet connection to enjoy this game. However, this also means there is no real player driven economy or global chat if you are into that sort of thing.
