I bought this game knowing nothing about it.
It is a single player, open world, colony builder, exploration game.
You can choose to play with only one character or recruit up to 30 characters (or animals) to control at the same time.
The game is very similar to 'Rimworld' but is much more forgiving, your characters will rarely die permanently, but will instead be maimed or knocked out often.
Combat is very simple, control characters in the MOBA style and click on an enemy to automatically attack.
You can pause at anytime to issue commands.

This game was amazing for me. The only downside is that the graphics aren't groundbreaking, and there are some bugs. If you are easily frustrated from bugs and unwilling to search google for fixes, then skip this game.
