A modern shooter that is styled after the kind of shooters made in the late 90s and early 2000s, Slayers X is a current-day nostalgic experience. There's stylistic presentation everywhere. The UI, enemy and weapon designs, even the word choice and occasional misspellings really sell the fact that it's the product of a teenager putting their passion into making a game by themself. There's also a few tie-ins to Hypnospace for people familiar with that. The entire arsenal of weapons feels satisfying and the levels have a good way of wrapping back around on themselves.

It's a little on the short side but there's some extra levels and of course the opportunities to play on higher difficulties or hunt for secrets.
