Get the game if you like platform fighters.

I played over 50 hours of the beta (more so starting in July, as the April one kinda turned me off, but the July one REALLY brought me back) and played quite a bit of the demo that went up during Next Fest. I experienced hardly any lag while playing the game during those times. (unlike another game I won't mention, even with a wired connection...)

There IS a cash shop, but ALMOST everything in it you can get by grinding for in game coins via leveling and other means (minus a few things, which do not have a coin icon next to them if they are cash shop only) and after events, the studio has gone on to say that the stuff featured in the events WILL stay in the shop, so there shouldn't be any FOMO (the only stuff that MIGHT be FOMO would be the Kickstarter exclusive Wrastor skin, the "Retro" skins for all characters that was for the $50+ Kickstarter pledge, as well as beta exclusive items that you had to earn during the beta. (and MAYBE event exclusive stuff as it has been said that some things may be gotten only if you participate/go to any tournament events for the game)

... but even then, in RoA1 some of the stuff that was only available for a limited time was eventually put back on the store to buy (it was just shown as it being a "later" version, compared to when it was first released) so some of the stuff that I mentioned that could be considered FOMO, MIGHT come back "eventually" (but don't quote me on that either, just saying it "could" happen)

Plus, if you are reading this review and don't know, in announcement trailers it has been said EVERY CHARACTER AND STAGE WILL BE FREE DLC DOWN THE LINE. (aka, all that stuff I mentioned for the cash shop? That's just for cosmetics, actual characters and stages will be free DLC updates that happen down the line)

Plus there is more on the way (including a campaign, which is more fleshed out from what's been said, than the story in RoA1 too)

Either way, $30 (on sale as of this review) for a game with free DLC, being more characters and stages? If you like platform fighters, my first sentence still stands.
