While it may not be as trippy in some instances as the original, the battles still feel fantastic! (although I will admit the first area had A LOT of enemies in it that were mostly the same, I mean taking out 3 Spring Heads in one battle hahaha... but if you can get through that, just think of it as more tutorial stuff!) It's honestly nice to be able to start out with being able to attack instantly (... if you start on Medium or Hard, the first battle will NOT allow this if not on those difficulties be warned) and unlike most the battles in the original game, in this one most the battles loop so it makes getting achievements MUCH easier in comparison to the first game, as while the first game achievements required not taking damage in the battles, this game instead uses "one hit kill" for the battle achievements which if you keep screwing up, the looping battles help for you to master certain parts (NOT ALL LOOP! And not all start at the beginning either)

The music IMO can be top notch, which is to be expected for the Everhood series after the last game, heck if you don't get owned at the beginning, the first battle song you hear is what you can expect for some of the later battles. Some favorites besides "Playing with Insanity" would be "Raven's Tutorial - Part 2," "El Tigre Battle," & "The Dragon, Pt. 1" to name a few early game songs that are catchy... and there are plenty of others too!

I won't talk too much about something I've been hearing some others say, but do want to bring it up, that some people did not like the ending, but honestly for a franchise like Everhood, I feel like the game's journey is the point of this game and less about the ending. While the first game's ending may have felt more filling, and accepting that everything has an end, this game's existence throws that idea out the door, and so the plot is more so many adventures, which without going over the actual ending, some people may not have liked. (Remember, it never ends in Everhood, which I feel is true to this game) I mean when you think about it, while you played as Red in the original, you play as YOU in this game, and your main goal... never really gets talked about much. So I walked into this game just to enjoy the adventure, the battles and also helping out the main characters you interact with, some like Sam and Irvine, being originally extra characters from the first game.

I feel like there are some secrets to find in the game... some that might actually be oversights, such as that portal that was in a random dark area that is almost impossible to find unless it's heavily looked for... (patched out today, hopefully they reconsider making it a thing but understandable if not) there is also an elevator with a 6 number code, so it would not surprise me if there are more codes that haven't been tried yet that contain more secrets too.

Overall, I enjoyed the game and the journey, unsure if I will go for every achievement in the game as the final 20'ish I have left are REALLY hard, but it was enjoyable trying to one hit kill everything as well! Just a fun experience :)

(I didn't even mention the game has custom battle stuff, as well as a leaderboard for bosses, once you reach a specific place!)
