I see many people are writing a negative review, something I feel the game does not deserve. I think many players are locked up in their own personal HW1 memories. Something I am as well. HW1 and HWC are very found childhood memories for me, and the later HW2 made its own marks in my gaming-memories as fun. I love the games, the story, and all the fun and dreams it gave...

But its 25 years ago they released HW1, and it’s was a completely different story. In HW1 we are the outcasts, the low tech nomads clinging on for life, taking on an empire. Where we do not have any tech, but have to trade and create on our own, explore space for the first time.

In this game, we are an empire on our own, we have the tech, we have the skills. There is no need to trade and grind for new ship designs, we have it all in our databanks... But we are fighting a new enemy, in a new part of space.

For me the game looks like, feels like and sounds like Homeworld. From the opening screen of the main menu with the background music gave me the Homeworld vibe. The campaign story as well, feels like Homeworld, and I like the story.

I’m not saying it’s perfect... I have 13 years of hopes and dreams what a Homeworld 3 game would be... But I can’t expect to get exactly that. For example, I would rather have the 2D black and white cinematics back, over color 3D ones.

The things I did not like are:
-Maps are small (But they can release more and modders can make more)
-Camera system is strange (mainly user fault)
-Small varieties in ships (But they can release more and modders can make more)
-Could need some more Shipbalance (Fully fixable for the Devs)
-AI could need a tweek or two (Fully fixable for the Devs)
-Missions are quick and short, and you are not given time to regroup before moving to the next.

What I hoped to see:
-A huge campaign with multiple endings to really dive into, with more control over where you go to get to the end.
-Mutch larger multiplayer maps to get those long long long grinding matches.
-A universe conquer multiplayer game mode.

But can I say the game is bad, just because it did not reach my extreme hopes and dreams. NO!
The game is good and fun... It feels like Homeworld... and will make its own mark on the Homeworld saga.

And the best thing... it’s not the end... There are three DLC drops coming, that will expand the co-op War Games mode with new playable factions and artifacts.

And if we support and fund the game, there are still chances for even more.

I for one, can live with, and accept to put my Homeworld 1 memories on the shelfs, to look at the new game with new eyes and enjoy that we finally have HW3, 25 years after Homeworld 1, and 10 years after Homeworld 2.

Have fun, enjoy it!

This was the "one game", that manage to bring the gaming gang active again after almost 2 years of gaming drought. Its blasting fun from the beginning, without the toxicity of "modern multiplayer" games. Pluss stunning graphics.

The games difficulty leveling, start off very easy and works it way up in (my opinion) slow to the more extreme and hearth pounding action. The games also have a life of its own, and the devs constantly bring something new, to make it more difficult, or the AI smarter or other small tweaks. Something I love, as it constantly will keep you on the edge of your seat, screaming for help from your teammates, that have decided to “strategically” regroup far away from the hell spawn you decided to put your helldiving boots into.

When writing this, the game has two enemies. (3 if you count the “GameMaster”). Both having their very own unique tactics, making the tactics you use on one, not perfect to tackle the other one. When you feel you can handle the bugs on extreme, you get mauled to death by the bots on medium. THIS MAKES IT FUN… because, easy is never fun..

I like that the game keeps getting more difficult, as it keeps it fun. Becoming a master, and ending up owning everything and speed running each mission is not fun for long. Making you work for each mission success, makes it fun in the long run.

The only thing I would have like to see (personal opinion) was a slower ranking system. You level up way to fast, unlocking new super gadgets to fast. (Maybe due to me beeing the Battlefield 2 generation, with uber slow ranking, making you actually work for it). And that the Dev does not throw all the surprises and addons at us to fast, leaving nothing to tease us with in a year or two.

But for me, this is a must buy. Play solo, with randoms or friends, its fun either way. (if you like shooters).

For Liberty!

Unfinished, buggy, poorly optimized… Dont buy it. Wait 3-4 months when its finished and patched and buy on sale….

I preordered the gold edition for 90£, got nothing to show for it… and now its already on sale for 30£. Asked for a refund, But since I preordered its past the 14 days… WASTE OF MONEY

This is the best adventure game I have ever played. First back in my childhood when this game was new. (Played it several times). Again in adult life with the Directors Cut, and then back again to the original. Love this game, and I have so many found memories, and still enjoy it. Think its a game my kids one day will enjoy as well, even if its starting to age. Hope to one day se a movie or TV series based on the story.

I was sceptic after their somewhat fail at launch, and peoples reviews. But WOW was I wrong, I love this game.. Its awsome. Im playing with 6 other friends online and are having a blast. They might have released the beta and game to early, having people experience unessasary bugs. But the game at it current state is BEUTIFULL. Yes, it has some small issues, but it does not stop me to love the game.

One of the best games I have played in a while. Love the story, and would love for it to never end. But if it had'nt, it would not have been a good game to remember. I personally will remember the story of this game for a long time. For the current price, its a very good buy.

Story, Game play and most the characters are good and deep. Some characters are not as well pictured, and a bit boring and you dont manage to make any "feelings" towards them as a player. But the two main characters are great.

The only thing I'm a bit dissapointed with, is that the choices you do does not affect the game even more than they do. I would have loved the story to have several paths, leading to different endings. At current it follows on red line, to one ending, with some small turns left and right, but allways back on the same track at the end. Would be great to have been able to play it again and again, hunting for those different endings, and new parts of the story. (Bit like the old Blade Runner game, that had 7 endings.)

But all in all, LOVE IT TO DEATH. Looking foward to play the DLC, S2 and the mini-series. And a big hope for a grand S3 that everyone is asking for.
