I've been involved with and playing Entropia since 2011.

I won't sugarcoat it, you probably won't win/make money in this game; you'll likely 'lose' money.
That doesn't mean you have to insert REAL money to play, although it certainly helps.

Its a very large game with a playerbase mixed with oldschool and newer players. Pretty much everything is player driven: hunting events; material market; crafted items etc.

Depositing & 'The Casino'

This is an old, vast and complex game with a lot of MMORPG characteristics. You have a variety of professions to get involved in, and each has their own methods/styles and set of skills to grind up.

Yes it has 'casino' elements, and you know that the house always wins... although how else would they keep the servers on and pay developers to add new things to the game?

Like any game, Entropia Universe requires SOME form of money input from the playerbase... but instead of buying some shiny gun skins in this game, you can OPTIONALLY choose buy the equipment/ammo you need to play. The game is still free to play and its entirely possible and feasible to play without depositing money, but putting a couple $ in does help; and it keeps the game going!

To help get some in-game monies, you can participate in Sweat Circles, where many players gather together to extract 'sweat' from our unfortunate mob victims, such as Ambulimax, Kerberos (Calypso) or Nusul (Arkadia). Join chat channel #sweatinfo to find out whats happening and where.

Additionally, MindArk have recently announced the coming re-opening of the Orthos Oil Rig which gives players the opportunity to get some free Oil. Use in your vehicles or sell to other players. Here is a link to an old video showcasing what the Oil Rig used to look like and also kinda explains how it work(ed)s

There are also websites you can use to get some ingame currency to play with; usually by completing surveys or performing an hourly task. Checkout Lootius.io, a free web-based idle game that also helps you to get some ingame currency.

Some of the achievements are impossible to get without a steam friend who also plays the game. That being said, I wish there were a continuation to the game; a Heat Signature 2.

Can't say I recommend. Looks great in the trailers and such but gameplay feels janky and underpolished.

How the hell do you mess up this badly. This supposed to be a 'new' game release, and yet it is 1000x worse than original Robocraft from like 8 YEARS AGO.

This game company 'Freejam' had the secret sauce. They had their playerbase dialled-in and hooked; myself and friends included. I cannot fathom how they possibly thought it a good idea to wreck original Robocraft when it was in it's golden era and then think it a good idea to create.... this. Not only that, but they've got the audacity to include *microtransactions* in this barely functional and cringeworthy (those voicelines...) pile of nothing.

No idea where FreeJam gets it's money from, but I sincerely hope it gets nothing from this game. Please people, do not buy the Galaxy Cash; do not spend your money on something that will give you absolutely nothing in return. This is in reference to both the game and the company behind one of the most successful Free to Play MMO's on Steam: FreeJam.

They shot themselves in the foot, tried to bandage it up in the form of *bad* 'updates' to Robocraft, then realised they'd dug themselves a deep hole and proceeded to continue digging deeper by making Robocraft '2' instead of oh I don't know... Fixing Robocraft itself and putting it back to the way the PLAYERS wanted it.
Unfortunately, these guys don't listen, and they won't listen this time either.

So, what is Robocraft 2? Ironically, it has a couple base elements of OG Robocraft in it: Tech Tree, Galaxy Cash and some hints of familiarity in the UI and a returning OG gamemode. Unfortunate the similarities end here as the gameplay is sluggish and boring, and the voice-lines are utterly terrible.
No Friends system, no Chat system. Combat feels unresponsive and unrewarding with virtually no feedback on damage dealt. Can't even tell if I'm dealing any damage despite the little 'crosshair' icon hinting that I am in-fact landing hits.

Oh, and why can I run around now? What's the point in having a little guy with a gun that is quite literally useless? We never asked for this. Nobody asked for this. Robocraft(2) is not a first-person shooter and wouldn't ever be able to compete as one. I'd say stick to what you are good at, but quite frankly FreeJam, it doesn't seem that you are good at anything nowadays.

Cancel this experiment of yours, bring Back OG Robocraft (and Robocraft Royale!!) and maybe you'll have a shot.. but I doubt it.

I think trains are pretty cool. A train driving game? Cool concept. Very (very) poorly executed.

Man, I wanted to like this. I really did. Unfortunately my frustrations with this game started within the first few minutes, starting with the Main Menu:
I'm a new player, and I'm instantly dumped on this Main Menu. Okay, what do I do next? There's just so many buttons and things; it's like all of the game has been opened up for me without a single introduction as to what the game is, how to play, what you can do etc.

I tried out the very first tutorial and I was immediately displeased with the experience.

Un-skippable things
Every time I load one of these tutorials, I'm presented with some visual-audio information about the locomotive. There's voiceover alongside a camera pan of the train and some onscreen text to support the voiceover.
Neat, right? Well, it would be except I can't skip any of it. For each of these tutorials (6?), I'm held hostage for around 20 seconds just listening to something that I read in the first 5.
Some more of my time is wasted waiting for the Camera pan to complete and land where my character is, to allow me to start moving around.

bugs, bugs everywhere
Software is typically put through various stages of testing to ensure that it functions as expected and passes all test criteria prior to release.
This game? Yeah, no. It feels like it wasn't tested at all.
It is full of game-breaking bugs and issues that completely ruin any possibility of a smooth - and enjoyable - gameplay experience.

Some trains have little LCD displays inside of them for interacting with the train, setting up speed limits etc. These displays look great, but they unfortunately don't work great.
During one of the tutorials, I was told to press the F5 key on this little keypad in order to get into the Speed Control window. Okay, sounds easy. I press the "F5" key and what happens? Nothing. I hear a sound, the button animates, but nothing happens.
I press some other keys? Most don't work, but a completely unrelated key DOES work AND actually ended up progressing my "mission", even though I entered the WRONG menu?
After exiting out, I tried the button below the "F5" key, and boom, that worked. I'm in the Speed Control menu.
I was once again told to press a specific key to "lower the train speed", and again pressing the key BELOW the specified one actually performed the expected function. Odd.

Another super frustrating issue I came across was non-functioning breaks. As-in, the breaks of the train didn't work, like at all. The Emergency break worked, but that's not really all that useful because you get no granular stop control. Even with both the Independent and Automatic breaks both set to 'Full Stop' or 'Full Service', the train would continue to roll down (slightly) angled track on it's own. Only applying the Emergency Break allowed me to stop the damn train.

During these beginner scenarios, the game also allowed me to press buttons that ultimately forced me to go look online for answers. To try and figure out the above BREAKS issue, I pressed the Emergency Engine shutdown button. This button stops the flow of fuel to the engine and quickly shuts the thing down.
I did not expect this button to work - certainly not this early into the game.
Some of the mechanics for this game are quite deep, including the startup process for Train engines.
I had to turn a switch (difficult, I know!), go find and click on the small hitbox for the Engine doors, then start the Engine back up manually. Once I figured it out, it wasn't all that hard.
I appreciate the inclusion of all functionality early-game. I don't want to feel limited or go "booo why doesn't this button work?".
Unfortunately, the game just wasn't prepared to let me shutdown the whole ass train engine. I was provided with 0 support and I had to spend ages figuring out how to get up and running, and moving again - all without rolling back down the hill :/

One final issue i found was another Menu one. After completing my first tutorial, I was presented with a few options, one being a sort of "Continue" option, theoretically allowing the player to go to the NEXT tutorial/scenario.
Unfortunately, every time I've pressed this, it's just RE-PLAYED the very first tutorial scenario. It hasn't moved on or allowed me to "continue" into another scenario.
Due to this, I have to exit out back to main menu every time I wanna just do the next thing. Boooo.

Conclusion?
I still really want to like this game, but man I just can't.
My hand is being held when I don't want it to - each tutorial is almost identical to the last and teaches very little - and it's being let-go of when I need that support - like when the breaks didn't work or when I turned off the whole damn train.

This game is riddled with issues that I simply can't play with. Googling didn't provide me any solutions to any of my problems, with all input issues only yielding controller-specific solutions.

I have no idea how this game is Very Positive. Am I doing something wrong?

I'll probably be refunding as I've thankfully not hit the 3hr mark just yet. Phew.

I was having lots of fun, but then my 57h savefile corrupted.

Play the game, it's great, just make backups kids, cause' this game does NOT sync with Steam Cloud so there's no saving you if your file decides to not work anymore.

UPDATE: Steam Cloud is now a thing for this game. Still, make some manual backups every so often!
