Why is it so addictive? I'll never know.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is an absolutely delightful game that is a homage to Animal Crossing. The bright, vibrant graphics and charming characters are a joy to interact with, and the various activities and mini-games scattered throughout the game provide plenty of entertainment. This is way better than that godawful Hokko Life with the weird animal heads! Thank goodness I bought this during the sale.

Secret word: Gifted

I think this is a fun game to pass some time. I don't think the results are that accurate though.

Great game mechanics and gameplay, lukewarm story. I hope Microsoft buys out Gearbox from Embracer and Randy Pitchford steps down as the CEO of fail.

Recommended for the atmosphere and music.

The voice-acting, especially the dog AI, was godawful - the way the character talked sound scripted and forced... almost "casually conversational", I thought it was Fiverr voice-acting at first. Absolutely atrocious. Like how lazy is it to not even add a "computer" effect over the AI.

I had expected there to be dialogue trees and choices but the character mostly made linear decisions for herself. Don't understand why there was a need to disable free camera movement when the character is out of the vehicle.

Comparing this with another cyberpunk indie game, RUINER by Reikon Games, the latter was slightly more expensive in the Steam store but they managed to have way better graphics and skipped the need for painful voice-acting by keeping it to text-dialogue only. Check out the graphics for RUINER and you know what I'm talking about.

There were also no graphic settings, and upon close-up everything looks like Minecraft. Zero collision effects with other vehicles; they don't even respond to you hitting them such as beeping and such. You can fly straight into an obstacle and not receive visible damage.

I must say the sound effects, background effects and the Bladerunner-isque music were terrific though. A shame because this game could have so much more potential.

Characters that I've played as so far, and why this game is recommended:
  • Doomer
  • Obama cardboard cutout
  • A 2D hyena with a flapping head
  • Tesla Cybertruck
  • A toilet bowl
  • A photorealistic 3D scan of a Caucasian lady holding her baby
  • Stephen Hawking in a wheelchair
  • Photo of Linus from Linus Tech Tips
  • A muscular man with a loaf of bread as his head
AND MANY MORE!

Great game. Bought it before the sale but still it was worth it. There are supposedly more stuff that will be coming. Hilarious dialogue, some of which made me really tear laughing. Oh, and please get the 100% power baby achievement, it's worth it and I FELT SO GOOD.

If you love Harvest Moon, you'll love this.
  • Cute graphics
  • Endless hours of gameplay
  • Immersive environment
  • You'd think this game will be spared but guess what, there's sex mods available on Nexusmods

Overall 9/10 +1 for the modability

Pros:
Finally NO micro-transactions, just a pure unadulterated game.
Cute graphics and pretty wholesome dialogue and mini-stories.
You're able to give your rival a piece of plain baked dough whenever he requests for a pizza.

Cons:
Probably a little too expensive for such a game, recommended that you get it on sale.
Nothing has changed from the mobile version, except with the removal of the micro-txns.
The pizza making gets tedious and repetitive.

Conclusion:
Fun little game but not worth $15. Would get it on a sale (which I did).

I remember seeing this game somewhere as an 'upcoming featured game' but it got memory holed. Imagine my delight and surprise when I saw it being offered for this Steam Winter Sale! I can only say that, "I should have bought it earlier."

Good stuff:
- The cyberpunk aesthetic, coupled with an absolute banger of a soundtrack (with some tracks composed by Susumu Hirasawa - Paranoia Agent/Paprika), makes it seem like Cyberpunk 2077 came early. At some points the music syncs with the intensity of the levels and it does get me pumped up. There is a heavy AKIRA inspiration to this game too.
- The shoot 'em up gameplay is reminiscent of Hotline Miami, and controls are quite user friendly. There is no delay in respawning after you die as it throws you immediately back in action.

Could-be-improved stuff:
- Size of map could be bigger and more extensive, or more 'open-world' for the free roam maps (such as in the city).
- Inventory function could be added (if possible), and allow interactability with the food vending machines/shops and/or ability to go inside buildings.
- Optional and seperate co-op game mode to share the excitement with your friend.
- Ability to tilt and adjust the camera more, and more 'gibbing' from the enemies.
- Disappointed the catchphrase throughout this game wasn't "Get 'em Pupper!".

Overall, 4/5 for this game. Highly recommended!
