I don't understand how they made the game worse. The character models are very weird, the optimization is gone (played on release), the dialogues are written by someone who never saw two people speak. I died from cringe on my first dialogue with the hero's wife, uninstalled and refunded.
Can't recommend this even to die hard fans :\

But maybe I'lll give this a try sometime...

TL;DR
It's good. Very well worth the price.

First Impressions
For an ADHD person like myself, the game can be quite overwhelming. I'd actually prefer a slower development overall - there's too much of everything at once, especially in the late game. And it only gets more intense with time, with the inventory becoming cluttered with all kinds of icons, as well as the toolbar.

Interestingly, the thing that everyone seems to hate about the open world, I actually adore (as someone who almost didn't play the beta). It allows me to process the game at my own pace.

The voice acting, especially Sparks', is surprisingly good.

Extended Playthrough Update

After putting in a "couple" more hours, I can definitely say the game is worth it. The story kept me going (I'm still 2 levels before the end).

Pacing Issues
The ending seems artificially stretched - I rushed through the first ~10-12 levels in just a few hours, but the rest have been taking A LOT more time.

I don't really mind this, as I take the time to reorganize stuff and build more beautiful factory layouts. However, I wish the pacing was smoother:
• You unlock 1/5 of everything in the first 2/3 of the game
• Then the remaining 4/5 of technologies (along with COMPLETELY new production chains) get dumped on your head in the last third
• It felt overwhelming. Hello, anxiety!

P.S. The hovering tech is really frustrating to use until you get the unlimited height version.
P.P.S. The absense of the search bar in the inventory is a war crime.

Just yes.

For this price, it's a steal. The game has lots of content, nice progression system and is overall a cool experience.

It's okay.

And they still make attractive characters in 2024.

Refund.

The demo was challenging and fun, the full game is ultra boring.

I picked Tyr and was simply stacking armor without any second thought. I was one-shotting all of the enemies. By floor 12 I got super bored.

Either the balance is completely broken, or the particular character is, but overall, the game gets REALLY repetitive. It needs more focused variability. Skip in the current state.

I'm not quite sure why I like it, but it's probably a combination of factors. In any case, I found myself enjoying the game quite a bit.

The game itself feels like a mashup of all that's been popular in the recent years: Control, Death Stranding, etc. And that's not a bad thing.

What I struggle with is the building. Could use a lot of improvement, especially in the pieces snapping part.

I like killing hordes of enemies.

Game seems to heavily take inspiration from Diablo and Hades (the gods made a bit too much like in the game).
Gameplay-wise it's good, I like it so far.
The aesthetic/graphics are great.
I am not sure though whether I dig the weird occasional humor, which sometimes feels out of place. But "the f*cking living, man" from a dying skeleton got me laughing.

I guess it's OK.

Jokes aside, this is one of the best games I've ever played. Yes, it kinda lacks the depth in all of the mechanics, and these mechanics could have been better intertwined, but this game gave me so many happy hours for this price, it's more than I could ask for.

I ran for 20 minutes through empty corridors.

The performance is bad, the UI is also not good. The voiceovers are surprisingly good.

I don't get this game...
