Great music, duh! If you already know about Savant you know exactly what to expect the music to sound like and it's exactly that: More of the good stuff! What I found weird is that the audio mixing seems to be off, while the in-game music is ALWAYS loud, no matter what you tweaked in the settings, the in-game sound effects are always buried beneath the loud soundtrack.

Awesome pixelart, but the bosses animations feel rather stiff in comparison to the animations normal enemies have. Their attack animations sometimes look like there could be more to them, but it's just a rather lackluster animation. Maybe it was an artistic choice to not overwhelm the player during those fights?

Speaking of bosses, their designs are based on cover art for Savant's albums and let me tell you, they are fun to look at and super creative! Wish there were more bosses and stages on other Savant albums. VOID's cover feature so many new characters, wish we would see some of them.

Gameplay loop is simple but engaging, the boss fights all feel fair and balanced, even on hard.

Sadly there isn't a lot to do in the game besides the Classic and Remix story, which basically is the same game with different "Power Moves" that don't really differ that much from each other. There's an endless and daily run mode, but they are more of the same. The only thing that keeps you playing is finishing both Classic and Remix mode on hard to unlock all tracks for the in-game playlist.

If you're a fan of Savant's works, buy the game and you'll have a good time! If you don't know about Savant and want a stylish but simple Twin-Stick shooter, you better wait for a sale.

I just know that the future mods that rely on this DLC will just be more warcrimes and ungodly creations to haunt my poor colonists.

For now it's rather tame and requires the player to focus on it instead of weaving most of its content into the base game, which some people don't like, but I find it quite pleasing to not worry about the abominations that this DLC introduced, unless I want to, of course!

I don't know about this one chief.

The concept of the game is fun and the first few levels are fun, but that's it! The gameplay loop stays the same and even the "additions" to said loop feel too underdeveloped. They could've made soooo much more with the core idea of controling a hole that grows with everything you eat AND interacts with certain objects like fire, water, rabbits and so on, but it only does it once or twice during the game for each element, it's so boring!

Now pair a mediocre gameplay loop with wonderful 2012 14-year old "haha BACON, lulz so random!" humor where the characters IN DIALOGUE with each other say "LOL" and "omg", dialogue that only is relevant 5% of the time with the rest being boring chit-chatter in between all the different characters and a story that has nothing new to bring to the table...

It just ain't worth 12 bucks if you get 2 to 3 hours of "fun" for this gameplay. You're better off playing any Katamari game. Unless you think raccoons, possums and whatnot being quirky is PEAK internet humor, then you should just throw your money out of the window!

Review was made while I was on my way to grow moss on the planet, so things I say here might not be true for the later parts of the game!

Clearly inspired by Subnautica and other survival games in that league, Planet Crafter sets itself apart from others in the genre by having NO enemies. Your goal is to terraform a planet and explore what has become of people trying to do it before you crash landed there, without worrying about being eaten alive by alien lifeforms or dealing with deadly plant life and diseases.

There are multiple biomes to explore, one HEAVILY leaning into a Subautica biome, even with its colour palette! You can explore wrecks, find secrets, dropped crates with materials, rare crates and new technology which unlocks even better equipment for you. During your time on the planet and your mission to terraform it, you'll progress along various "goals" e.g. heat, pressure, oxygen and biomass which all grant certain new buildings, machines and gadgets as you pass a certain goal! But the best thing is, there is no pressure, no timer on when you should be finished and no hazards that force you to do certain tasks, it's all just your own tempo and how you want to tackle your mission!

Buuut there are a few things I really dislike about the game, like when you get your jetpack, you can just hold space while forcible walking/moving against walls and easily ascend them, reaching regions of the map that you either weren't allowed to reach so easily, or even clip into the landscape. Luckily it's more annoying than gamebreaking, as there is an extra command for getting unstuck!

The other thing that bothers me is that textures and geometry pops in here and there, which is more of a minor annoyance, but it happens quite a lot if you're using higher tiers of jetpacks.

Overall it's a super fun and even relaxing "survival" game that heavily relies on exploration and just taking your time and can even be played with friends!

The game is/was super fun for the time I played, even better with friends! It was well balanced, felt good to just play and shipped in a quite finished state. The "monetization" felt fair because premium currency could be earned by just playing, the presentation of the game is still impressive and really makes you feel like you're doing your part!

But as of today:
  • They removed the forced PlayStation Network connection which was heavily critized by... everyone. This review is not gonna change though, as the intention behind it and the peer pressure it needed to get rid of said restriction was immense. They could pull another one like this soon. Don't be flimsy, be firm!
  • The warbonds (the devs name for the battlepass) look and feel fair on the surface. The premium currency the "premium warbonds" cost can all be obtained within missions just by playing the game and exploring, but the interval at which new warbonds with new broken weapons are released either force players to sink in immense hours to unlock everything before the old weapons get nerfed, or you'll end up looking guides on which weapons you should buy the unlocks for in order to keep up with more difficult missions while still performing good.
  • The balancing is this game is mid at best. New warbond weapons mostly feel strong while older weapons get nerfed/balanced, this has been toned down after a lot of review bombing, showing that the dev is kinda spineless and only takes back bad decisions if a lot of people complain, who could've guessed that nerfing old weapons will make people angry?
  • For progressions purpose you NEED to play at very high difficulties, which can easily get very sweaty. If you don't have 3 friends that'll help you, you're pretty much done for. Playing with randoms will result in teamkills because you don't play the "proper way" or you'll just be kicked after a 30-40 minute mission right before extraction, just cause the people you played with didn't like you and you'll end up with wasted time and nothing you collected back on your ship. Why not try Singleplayer then? Cause it's unbalanced AF. There is NO scaling in squad/troop spawn depending on the number of players actually playing the mission. Cool, we got rid of that back in 2010 tho.
  • A lot of people report technical issues, crashes, freezes and connection problems for months and it seems the devs are not fixing stuff for a lot of these people. If it would be singular instances of crashes happening, this might be fine, because no dev in the world can fix stuff for EVERY system, but looking through other negative reviews, we can see that it happens quite a lot with a LOT of people.
  • The "Super Store", which the devs said would NEVER EVER contain anything other than cosmetics, now boasts weapons from the Killzone crossover. You can't get these anyway else and have to buy them with premium currency. That's just super trashy and a break in trust with the customers.
  • The vocal and toxic minority of the fanbase actually cosplaying as fascists online and under every post about Helldivers in any social media. Shows that some people are that easy to manipulate and won't understand a message, I guess? Like, it's fun for a while to roleplay like this, but some take it to such an extreme, that you'll ask yourself if they're still in character or if the "roleplay" has completely taking over their actual political worldview.

Also premium currency in a 40$ game with an in-game shop rotating every 2 days to simulate the whole "buy now or you miss!" mentality. That's cringe, even for 2024.

Amazing, beautiful game if you look past some cringy dialogue.

Also, you can pet the cat and that's a big plus in my book!
EDIT: I finished the game and now face existential dread for a digital cat.

F-k Capcom for adding "Enigma" DRM 4 YEARS(!) post launch to this game, just to break the performance and justify it with "T-The cheating mods!". Super anti-consumer and until this is somehow resolved Capcom can keep laying in a ditch.
