Best game, best dev, Factorio forever.

After spending some time with this program, I must say that my initial opinion of it has only been confirmed. Despite the developer of it seemingly disappearing never to be seen again (seriously, if you know him please check on him. I hope he's not deceased), this is a really solid program with a lot of cool features. Some of them are hit or miss, like the mannequin that's only good for really smple poses and which shape is pretty masculine, while others are a great help, such as perspective tool which basically renders a 3d bounding box that you can rotate and resize and which helps you to get perspective right. There's even perspective snapping tool that takes care of vanishing points for you and which snaps to te grid lines of the aforementioned 3d perspective box.

Overall, this is a great program, just don't expect any updates. Another minor downside is that there's little to no video tutorials online and those that are there seem to be in Rusian/other language that uses Cyrillics, so you're on your own to learn it.

//edit: Forgot to mention it originally, but it looks like JugiPaint uses no DRM, not even the Steam one, which is also a plus.

This game has changed a lot since alpha. Unfortunately.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking time to read this review instead of scrolling past it.

Now, onto the main event! The skill tree-based progression of the original game where you actually get stronger as you go and later on can steamroll beginning area is gone.

Instead you get gear-based progression, which is not bad, I guess (Minecraft does similar thing after all)... at least until you go into the details.

Imagine this situation: You're playing survival Minecraft, you got crafted a boat because there's a river nearby and you want to explore. So you put your boat on the river and start peddling, but the moment you cross biome boundary, the boat suddenly disappear from under you. Now, imagine a similar situation. You're flying using Elytra. You're high in the air because you use the firework trick or jumped from a really high place (extreme hills maybe?). Elytra's durability is at its peak, but once you cross biome boundary, it disappears. Now imagine you're walking your Minecraft dog, let's call him... Sven. And once you and Sven go into a different biome, either on purpose or accidentally, Sven, your beloved Minecraft dog that you simply can't go on without just disappears, never to be seen again.

Done? Now you don't have to imagine, because those exact situations (boat/glider/pets disappearing) happen REGULARLY in the "new and improved" Cube World when you cross region boundary (and its not like they're visible either so you can cross it accidentally). Not to mention that your gear becomes useless in other regions. You could kill that hornet easily in previous region? Well, good bye, cruel world!

Region locked gear sucks. Yeah, heard about mods that remove it, but honestly if you have to install mods just to make the game PLAYABLE, you're probably sucker for games like Aliens: Colonial Marines as well.

Don't buy this game, not even on sale. Don't buy this game until the entire region locking SNAFU is fixed in the base game.
