This is an addictive, maddening game. In most cases, you aren't beholden to luck, only what you plan and play. That it also is now on mobile has damned me to being unproductive everywhere.

Such an adorable and enjoyable game that is worth the money. You can tell that the developer put a lot of love into it.
It's even better if you have a cat of your own already.

This is a game where every pixel hates you and wants you to die. And you will die.
But for some reason, you'll like it.

The mechanics and systems are consistent, surprisingly deep, and are completely exploitable (by you and enemies). There is a story beyond what you think, and a ton of secrets. There are still unsolved secrets to this day.

There *are* some things outside the mechanics (like chunk loading causing things to phase through solids on reload), but you won't notice them until you're well-versed in the game.

Good lord, this game has a storied run already... Sony has announced that the account linking will not be taking place, but has not yet reverted the region lockouts that match up with PSN. For now, it's hollow words.

Game's still fun but buggy.

Older edit:
Anyone even remotely interested should play this game, they will not be disappointed. This is an intense game that gives you several different styles of play. I've charged headfirst into a wave of bugs with a shotgun to clear nests and I've MGS crawled into a robot base and blew up factories without alerting them. Obviously with so much explosives and strategems, it's probably just better to turn it all into a crater, but the options are there.

And the humor is amazing. Everyone's already commented about Starship Troopers and APPLYING DEMOCRACY and "Freedom never sleeps!" but a great thing about it all is that it is never done in a way that gets grating. It's never at the expense of the game, and I really appreciate that.
You'll also get unintentionally hilarious scenarios like someone accidentally killing half the team as they run behind his recoilless rifle, or a bile titan kicking you halfway across the map. On that note, the ragdoll work is great.

Yes, there are bugs and glitches still, but the dev team has proven that they are 100% dedicated to the players. They have been working nonstop squashing all the network issues, and I think we're finally at a point that that part is acceptable. I feel comfortable with them dealing with the other bugs eventually.

This game got a major overhaul, a de-Tencent-ification if you will. Where before, the "mixed" rating was deserved, Darktide has removed and improved to a point where I can honestly say that it's worth getting. It's become a strong co-op shooter that you will almost definitely like if you enjoyed Vermintide.

Seriously, the glow-up that FatShark has done is incredible.

Not that the aren't still done flaws. I've noticed a recent update messing up audio cues. But with the quality and rate of updates since launch, I actually trust FS to address these random issues, which is more than I can expect of other developers.

I want to enjoy this game, but there are so many issues. There are so many unpolished and frankly bad design decisions and bugs that it frustrates me that there is a good game in here, but you end up getting stuck with a bug that cripples your cult or die to something stupid

The dungeon crawling aspect is uninspired and repetitive. Enemies are the same story. Weapons too. There aren't many actual differences as to how you fight with any weapons... except the gauntlet attack hitboxes are atrociously broken. Like, legitimately "report as bug" broken. Also, there were several times where enemy attacks should probably not have landed, but I can't prove it without a recording. Hitboxes are just everywhere in this game.
A big gripe: Why do jumping enemies not have shadows? It's near impossible to identify where they're jumping in the y-axis.

Base building is okay, but there are so many instances of "why did they do that?". There are a lot of QoL things that make me question if the devs played their game and asked "is this fun?". It ends up being painfully repetitive until late game.

Bugs are constant. Some are benign, others debilitating, and you better pray because they might be permanent in that save.

This game needs several months of bug fixes and QoL updates before it's a MSRP purchase. If the devs don't eventually address these things, then it's a "sale-only" recommendation.

Don't go into this thinking it's a rogue-lite. It's a spooky story game foremost with card games and escape room elements.

Early Access Review
What makes this game great is that the scariness is almost all in the anticipation, and not in any jump scare.

There are a *lot* off bugs, but it's still worth it. Especially if you get a full team. And I've got confidence that these bugs will be squashed soon enough.
