I love this game and I can't wait for the last DLC. This game has been quite an exciting experience and the feelings I have had playing has taken me back to the original Dark Souls 1

A great game. Boss battles are pretty unique. Has a bit of Souls experience in it as a retro style 2d platformer.

I recently finished the 1st game on the week of release for DaS2. I definitely believed getting this game on PC instead of console would be worth the wait. I wasn't disappointed at all with the 60fps and 1080p smooth graphics with such a lush and beautiful environment and set pieces, this version is definitely superior than on console. I've only started playing it but what I have played on the previous game has definitely helped. The immersion factor of the game is what will quickly grab you. With a scant story line that only tells you to move forward and the only advice given is that you will die, you will die a lot, DaS2 is as hard as its predecessor. There is no trial boss at the start that you must defeat but enough enemies to make up for it.

Edit. Like the previous version a controller is definitely recommended. You can bind your own keys on to the keyboard but it will still feel janky and frustrating to begin with.

If you have a ps3 controller BetterDS3 (http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/) is a much better application compared to mostionjoy. You don't have to be online and it doesn't come up as a trojan on your antivirus.

Edit 2. After playing it for 10+ hrs, I can say there are a few good and bad things about this game. Some environments look exceptionally beautiful like Majula, Iron Keep, Heides Tower of Flame and other areas look terrible like shaded woods. I do believe the level design is better in Dark Souls 1 because of how all the areas are connected together.

Some bosses bring back the nostalgia of playing the original Dark Souls but I wish they didn't repeat bosses and other enemy character assets too much. Too many bosses look similar. They are large and use a large weapon to attack you. Dark Souls 1 had unique bosses that let you choose different paths to defeat them. On the other hand enemy tracking on players has improved so you can't always circle the boss to dodge their attacks.

I enjoy the hints given by markings left on the ground and seeing the ghost of other characters making their way through the game also. I have yet to be invaded but I believe it will be soon.

The multiplayer invasion capabilities is awesome. There is a boss that will bring in other players to help him with the battle on several occasions.

Early Access Review
I'm definitely enjoying the game from what I've played. I'm hoping to see more content in the future for it. $5 definitely a buy.

I would say if you want to get more of a single player experience with a zombie survival game then this is the game you want to get. There are a multitude of ways to customise your game before you play. From the type of game, time, character settings, traits, zombie movement and amount etc. Never one game will be the same. With the addition of multiplayer in the future and a lot of planned features you can see on the store page, this is definitely a great purchase.

As to how this game plays, it is not a walk in the park. This game is true survival at heart and you can't be complacent and the more risks you take, the more likely you are to die. Some ways I have died have been from not clearing a house before looting, getting cornered by a horde inside a house and also outside, eating rotten vegetable, getting sick from being out in the rain too much, falling off the stairs (early beta), not making sure a zombie on the ground is dead, walking through a forest and then suddenly getting set on by a horde, leaving the lights on or window open for visibility, getting shot by an npc (early beta), attacking a zombie on the road only to attact more further down it, burning the house down by leaving the oven on. Longest I've lived for was 10 days.

I'm still new to this game and have heard about the farming, building and crafting available to build defences and to hold out against a moving zombie horde. Great game and definitely would recommend it to friends.

Looting houses, hospitals, churches, markets, shopping centres, schools, sheds, cabbins, apartments, restaurants, gp centre, warehouses, commercial buildings what more can you ask for?

A great game that brings back a nostalgia of retro games where your not hand held or pampered with helpful tips, equipment or directions in the beginning. All you understand is to move forward and expect the unexpected. On a side note, the freaking tutorial is a boss fight that I did not understand how to beat until I saw the opening to an exit to get a sword and shield.

An appreciation on not just on what it delivers, but for the players who traverse through the undead burg or through the sewers of the depths and onwards to blighttown or Anor Londo, the experience is like no other. Each environment is a unique set piece with its own enemies and pathways to take. I remember reaching the firelink shrine the very first time and unknowingly heading down towards the New Londo Ruins only to be demolished by ghosts. This gives you a fair warning that your not equipped to travel through the area yet, but a bit sight seeing of what to expect later in the game can always help your conscience.

Finally, the boss battles are some of the most exciting and frustrating thing about playing this game. Patience is key and learning the patterns and weakness of the enemy can go a long way. I've found sometimes even the mini bosses can be a handful because they can surprise you when entering a room and rush you unknowingly. Although I may have started playing this game at the latter end of its release (not even a quarter of the way through), I will definitely be looking forward to preordering Dark Souls 2 for the PC.

Only a few aus servers but I guess you can expect that with early access. What I have played is only the co op and I have thorougly enjoyed it. It is like red orchestra meets cod 4 where one bullet can be the difference between you surviving a firefight or getting killed by the enemy. The ability to peek corners and drop to the ground to hold a position helps a lot. Gun accuracy is like cs but it helps with the ability to use different sights and tap shooting with guns.

Some of the downsides are bot enemies can be bugged and can be shooting you and missing while standing behind you. I'm not saying this is how all enemies are because there are some maps that are extremely difficult even playing in a full group. You can't run and gun in this game at all and you will learn it the few seconds you hop on to a map.

This game just got updated and more updates to come in the future. I would give this game a chance if your wanting to play something more difficult with that modern warfare feel.
