Too expensive for what it's trying to be.

Tricks being single button presses, sprays not being randomised and grinds being automatic make the level traversal formulaic.
No re-playability once a level is completed, there aren't enough objectives to incentivise play.
Bikes, roller blades and skateboards are simply re-skins of a single movement system with only minor nuances which is slightly misleading.
Great soundtrack and inspired visual style make excellent use of nostalgia, but the base mechanics they are built upon aren't fun by themselves.

I cannot recommend buying this for more than 20$/€.

Fantastic platformer game.

It's like Metroid but with the movement system of Mario Odyssey.
Ample settings and options, a huge upgrade from the GameJam build (which was already impressive).

Very generous launch price too.
Great job devs!

Frankly I have mixed feelings about this game due to it being reliant on its art-style to sell the game (something a lot of indies have in common), but my experience is more positive than negative, even though I went in with a negative bias after reading some of the reviews prior to playing.

It goes without saying but the art and music is the best thing about this game currently.
In terms of farming or life sim it falls very short as most of the game mechanics, narrative and writing are only puddle-deep for a game that doesn't consider itself early access. The UI is quite plainly the weakest part of this on release as it sticks out like a sore thumb among all the beautiful art.

Out of principle I won't refund this game even though it fell severely short of my expectations, as it shows a lot of potential to improve and I'd love to see this become more fleshed out. Even with its massive shortcomings the aesthetic is really carrying its weight and I'd love to see it become more than that.

I would hardly call this more than a graphics demo due to the User Experience being so bad right out the gate. People weren't wrong when they said this game was the "nintendo hire this man" meme but in game form.

The Good:
  • Graphics look awesome, great lighting system.
  • Cyberspace level design.
  • Sound design, really sick soundtrack.
  • Animation is a bit stiff at times like most 3D sonic games, but works well overall.
  • Voice acting.

The Bad:
  • No attention towards clarity of depth perception: player shadow is not projected vertically making it impossible to tell when you are above a platform.
  • Open world environment design feels completely random: crates, springs and rails feel arbitrarily placed around the environment with no structure other than single loops. Puzzles don't interact with the player's abilities in any meaningful way.
  • Enemy character designs are disappointingly lacklustre.
  • Intrusive UI: scripted camera animations every other minute in open-world, menu interface is clunky and requires unnecessary amounts of button pressing.

The main reason to buy this game is if you really want anything with the Sonic IP slapped on it. The execution of even basic 3D platformer concepts is lacking, making the entire open world just a glorified level-select screen till you can get to the real meat of the game inside the cyberspace levels.

Not worth the launch price in my opinion, I'd buy it again once it goes on a reasonable sale.

I'm a little disappointed that the full game barely contains more depth than the free prologue.
Visual style is the only field where the game scores any points for me, it falls severely short in the gameplay department.
  • Every single objective in the game is a fetch-quest with little payoff.
  • Environment is not designed in a way that makes the movement options feel fun (The demo did this better).
  • Narrative is non-existent, save for the images shown when the player is sleeping.
  • Very little clarity on game objectives, especially at the start.
I wouldn't recommend this for what it offers on release, more areas with better puzzles or environments would do this game good.

Having played this game and DLC on Epic: (thank you 2K, very cool)

A lot of this game really looks cool on paper, but the execution is lacklustre.
As a doubled-down release of the Borderlands 2 DLC the developer introduces a lot of mechanics that "sound like DnD", but doesn't consider whether or not they are actually fun to play.

While there are 6 classes as opposed to the usual 4, they each only have a single class tree. You can choose an additional class at the start of the game, the catch is that none of the skill tree upgrades changes the game in a particularly meaningful way, and even the final tier skills and class-specific action skills aren't as impactful as they have been in previous games. This lack of class identity makes repeat playthroughs with new characters feel the same.
Character customization is completely overhauled and improved, but obviously doesn't add to the fun of the game.

A big red flag is that "Loot Luck" is a non-optional mechanic this time round, meaning that the drop-rates for interesting weapons are significantly lower than other borderlands games until you complete most of the game.
While the grenades being magic spells like the BL2 DLC is a mechanic very much improved upon, the new melee weapons aren't as impactful as you'd hope them to be with a dedicated melee class, and gun variety doesn't meet the standard you should expect from a borderlands game.

Having an Overworld with small area encounters instead of big open maps is something very DnD-like, but isn't fun. In addition the DLC only adds another set of small area encounters without new mechanics, giving the impression that the developer team either had very few resources to work with when making this, or was completely misguided.
The writing is nothing special, with the low bar that gearbox have set after BL2 it's not unexpected.

In a nutshell: this game does not improve upon the original it's based on, buy that instead.

A real treat, among the best indie games I've ever played.

Great graphics, sound and fluid movement. NPC dialogue is witty and fun.
Awesome that you can adjust the pixel size on the shader to make the game feel just the right amount of retro.
Frankly it's a shame there aren't many games with this feature.

Fairly priced, so great pickup on sale.

Really cool endless runner game.

Car models look good, and decent replayability.
Personally I'd like if there was more depth to the car tricks rather than just button mashing, but otherwise it hits every target you could expect from this type of game. Well executed.

Playing this with eurobeat is a real experience.

Very unique exploration game, the map is especially cool.

Story doesn't make much sense and the game is short,
but the feeling of dread and urgency is great in the start of the first play through.

I'd have tried it in VR if I hadn't read that there is no smooth movement control, plus the game has no immediate replayability.
Overall very interesting way to experience a game.

An endless and unrewarding fetch-quest, there's very little to do while moving between objectives.
There is no real story, and the weak storytelling gives the player no real incentive to complete any of the objectives.
The basic controls feel clunky and there is no practical alternative to walking everywhere, making the majority of the gameplay a walking simulator.
While the environment looks really good and quite pretty on high quality, the characters have really little appeal.
I don't mind that there is no combat in the game, but with crafting being the only major mechanic you'd expect there to be some kind of sandbox or interactive element in the environment to make it more interesting, which this game lacks.

Poorly spent time and money.
