Everyone talks about space slavery, galactic genocide, massive wars.

But what if I told you my most successful (and evil) empire were xenophiles?
Cause as it turns out, you can bio engineer immigrant pop to naturally expel volatile gases (on top of making them docile, great manual labor workers, soldier, etc) which i can bio-engineer my home race to use that gas to extend their life span- meaning the working class literally keeps the, uh, chosen race alive through their labor.
Of course no one has any issue with this, our living standards are the best in the galaxy, the highest wealth, the most advanced tech, how could anyone hate this empire? (the galactic community did cause I might have purged some fanatic zealots, apparently genociding the people who wanted to genocide you is a bad thing)

Eventually the grip on the galactic senate tightens, the main federation that opposed me fell to pieces through a variety of wars that I totally accidently got dragged into.

So yeah, if you wanted to role play as a slightly darker palpatine you could do that.

I've experienced zero issues with performance on my desktop while my laptop runs the game noticeably slower. The DLC prices are pretty standard for a paradox game (this is a bad thing) and much of the content DOES NOT match the price. I'd highly recommend the base game and main expansions while just waiting for a sale on everything else.

Absolutely adoring this game, I don't really understand the negative reviews around the curse system as it's really not that game breaking.

Each character has a unique play style that truly sets them apart from the others and while every character does kind of has a best in class set up you're highly unlikely to actually get said set up until late in 2nd stage endless mode.

I would like to see additional ways to increase max HP, I feel like XP scaling is a bit steep to completely unlock all inventory slots, one of the random events lets you take a curse for an item but only of rare quality which is just not worth it making it a dead event.

The updates seem to be active so if you're on the fence because of one issue or the other it's worth atleast keeping your eye on.

If you enjoy dungeon crawlers/roguelites this is absolutely worth your time and money

If you like city builders I would not pass this one by, even in early access this game stands above many others and keeps getting better.

The dev is incredibly active and responsive, I would highly recommend this one

I'm normally wary of early access titles but even as of patch .42 this feels like a fully fleshed out game. It runs smooth as butter, has enough personality to stand apart, and the difficulty scales in just the right way to give you what you want when you want it.

Tried this game in early access and once again post release (off steam);

I genuinely can't tell you what has changed in the almost year time span outside of adding trading, this feels like another abandoned early access game.

The thing is, i WANT to like this game. It has all the elements there to be a decent game but it feels like its fighting you at every turn. Units running off to heal mid fight, pathing issues, ranged units shooting into walls, your king seems to be the only unit that wont auto run off to some predetermined location which has lead to several game overs because i'm not baby sitting him.

I'd pick this up on sale if it ever goes to $15 or lower but otherwise it's a hard pass for me.

TL;DR:Pretty decent roguelite, worth the $20 price point.
Overall 7/10

The combat is enough to be just challenging, the parry timing is pretty tight but it comes with a weaken debuff rewarding them over just dodging attacks. The curse system is fairly easy to manage and save 1 or 2 aren't really anything to worry about with the exception of hitting max corruption but is easy enough to avoid entirely.

It feels a little shallow in some aspects; few weapons, limited buff selection. I can't say this game holds my attention for long, I'll play a run or two here and there and can't see any outright incentives to beat the game.

It may have been designed with gamepad in mind but i'm having no issues on keyboard+mouse with the exception of rebinding parry and weapon switching.

The graphics are nice, everything you would need to worry about stands out and is plainly broadcast to the player.

Just another survival game with an admittedly unique and interesting setting.
Overall average at it's current state but if you like the genre it's worth the $20.

The fan base seems to keep throwing out all sorts of excuses for this game:

You can claim the "bad graphics" are "stylistic choice" but when you see broken shadows and the stiff, amateur animations it's clear this "choice" was made due to a limit on the dev teams side.

The sheer fact everyone is throwing out "it's not as bad as other early access games" is both a red flag and an absolute abhorrent reason to give this a good review.

Generally not a fan of roguelikes but this one is genuinely interesting with a fair amount of depth and a unique concept.

However, (and this was a make or break personally) the lack of ui scaling makes this unplayable, I have pretty horrible eyesight which makes this game a struggle to play

If you like to pay top dollar for flash games that could be free, this game is for you!

Seriously don't even think about wasting any amount of cash on this out dated over priced pile of garbage.
